(And man, do we all need more yelps of joy lately!)

It’s one of the many joys of these books for me: The covers are beautiful and evocative but mysterious before I start— but I keep going back to the cover as I progress through the story, and recognizing another bit in the art from what I just read gives me a little yelp of joy every time!
Thanks for the answer! And yeah, as I feared - those grants are good, but not enough for many impacted businesses!
Thanks for writing about them, Banner Team- they’re a local gem and deserve to be better known! (And survive the construction there)
You also reported recently on Purple Line grants - did they get decent help from that?
Agreed - I'd love to see them expand their TTRPG & board game events & offerings, but just excited to have them in the neighborhood!
Quote on the joys of D&D & ttrpgs:
“In your day-to-day life, you can’t take down some evil figure that is keeping you down. You have to wait for laws and courts and stuff like that to stop climate change or crazy billionaires that ruin the world. But in a game like this, you can do it yourself.”
Lovely write-up - happy to have a friendly local game store in downtown Silver Spring, partly about the social joys of games like D&D. They also have a cool shelf of stuff by local designers.
How does fusion voting work with primaries? How does it work with open primaries?
Also an Old Cold Bold session I’d play @toastyseahorse.bsky.social
(There is a great spooky story or game to be made of “Winchester House, but AI,” where the heiress of an techbro fortune is guided by and seeks to appease the ghosts in the machine…)
I love the face closeup, his nose distorted; you can almost see the sweet, lonely, orange brain cell up there
Got to see @bobbartlett.bsky.social ‘s haunting, funny, immersive Mary Shelley’s Monsters in the beautiful, ghost-rich chapel of Congressional Cemetery on Friday. It’s running until October 12 - get thee & thy monsters there!

If you haven’t tried Prism - or haven’t played in a while (okay, that’s me) — consider these free new pregens a good excuse to try this great game out return to it!

Taking notes on young Vetinari’s camouflage moves in Night Watch (where the authoritarian government and secret police who won’t identify themselves are, um, feeling more relevant than I expected from my sickbed comfort reading)
Anyway, let’s play again when I’m not sick!
It’s such a great game! I’ve been thinking about it while reading Terry Pratchett this week.
Hopefully more folks get on board the OCB Express this time!
Surely this is an intentional choice to so we all grow Liberation Gardens, right? 🫠
Just a librarian tip- for neutral book links, you can always use Worldcat, the shared OCLC library catalog. Bonus, it’ll show if a library near you has it!

And ran a multi-year campaign everyone loved! What a happy thing to hear.
That’s our neighborhood protest! Thanks for the photo, Evan - I wondered how it looked from the Beltway! #NoKings
Fish ladder of gradual stone steps in a creek
Excited to see the @purplelinemd.bsky.social progress at Piney & Arliss — and the new fish ladder for Long Branch both in person and in the news!

Whoever in Annapolis has this Very Maryland Door - we salute you (and then we went to Mike’s for crabs, mmm)
The aesthetic feels very early 20th century stained glass? Like detailed faces surrounded by geometric shards - kudos to the artist & art direction!
We brought it as a host gift for bridge player friends we were visiting - and we all couldn’t stop playing until we were done!

This week, we binged our way through all 18 chapters of @officedoggames.bsky.social ‘s superb and gorgeous LotR coop trick taking game with our friends. We all loved everything about it - except that they haven’t done the (inevitable, right?) Two Towers & Return of the King sequels.
Great and very friendly Hands Off turnout in Brunswick, Maine - maybe a thousand folks on the green and Maine Street?
Our physical copy of @warbirds.bsky.social’s Lumberjills finally arrived - I’m so excited to run this soon!
Protest sign - direct hit (Hurricane image) on vital US Programs
Protest crowd at NOAA
Protest with sign saying “Climate Experts & Data are Precious”
Good turnout, hearty speeches, clever signs - but my favorite part of the rally for NOAA this morning was the clearly touched employees waving and watching from the building
Thanks for organizing, @chesapeakeclimate.bsky.social
