International and US law generally requires an “imminent threat” before a president taking military action. Presidents have tested this legality/policy since WWII and I would argue the attacks on Venezuela and this action require a more concrete definition. There was no imminent threat here. 1/2

I just watched a cnn video which said they had no verification except Iran state media sources. I don’t like either leader; the war is wrong but I am hoping it does free the Iranian people although I’m not optimistic. But I won’t take Iranian news and run with it.
The source for this is Iran media. The fault is highly disputed with an alternate version indicating it was a failed Iranian missile. No matter how you feel about the military action, to say that this would be intentional on the part of Israel or USA is batshit crazy, conspiracy bullshit.

They fail to recognize that we can BOTH hope this galvanizes some Republicans in Congress to start voting against Trump insanity AND hope for freedom for the Iranian people which may be the result here.
I will try to take that to heart. The Iranian people’s heart is undeniable. They have been poised for this moment for decades.
The regime has a deep well of extremists who will try to step up and lead. Also a large army to repress the masses. I hope they see the writing on the wall and give up quickly…just not sure that’s how it will go. Optimism is not my strong suit. lol
The previous administration had lackluster support for Israel. I’m not aware of anything beyond lip service they did for Jewish civil rights on campuses. They gave up principles for voting blocks in swing states and got burned.

My hope: 1) This drives more than zero congressional Republicans to join Democrats against Trump leading to impeachment. 2) The Iranian regime is soundly defeated getting rid of the biggest state sponsor of terrorism and freeing the Iranian people.
Hoping this convinces more than zero Republican congresspeople to begin standing up to orange guy. Also hoping regime change is successful for the Iranian people, for peace in the region and for peace in the world.
