I’ve got some pretty good ideas and am not too shabby at creating interesting characters and their dialogue.

For any #indieapril readers looking for some cosmic horror goodness…
Blep. Brain isn’t braining. Did re-plot new book earlier though…
I hate Al and I refuse to use it Peter, if you don't use Al a bunch of super rich men will lose a lot of money I already said I hated Al Harry, you don't need to sell it to me
“Analog horror is a type of short amateur cinema made and circulated on social media for free... Its name derives from the digital fabrication of analog-video aesthetics, including defects like grain, noise, snow, and shudder...”

If you feel like some short reads, and one of my spicy stories is in this bundle.
Mirabella is willing to do aything to save her village from plague. Even if it means turning to the old gods. But the old gods have a price...

I’ll never forget watching The Wicker Man with my outer Hebridean mum. “I just don’t know where there got all that wicker from”
How I can go from being creatively constipated to unleashing 2 chapters of a book in an hour should be studied.
Not that I’m complaining.
I realize today how important it is that we feel heard.
So, what are you struggling with? In your writing or your life? Share as much or as little as you like.
And most importantly, leave it here. This thread can carry that weight.
You, on the other hand, shouldn’t have to. 💙
4 squares brain meme cartoon. 1st square brain says Are you going to sleep? 2nd , an unhappy woman in bed: Yes, leave me alone. 3rd, brain: Your WIP's next scene is then they go and... 4th: woman with eyes wide open
Fcking pantser brain, fuck! 🤣❤️
A bundle of Yorkshire terriers
Enjoy more from The Horde
Well, 576 words just burst out of nowhere.
That was nice.
I need to finally do that Indie Recs section on my website…
The Last Band on Earth by Elaine M Will
Any of the flash fiction collections by Damon L Wakes
Meat by Dane Cobain
Municipal Gothic by Ray Newman
The Detective Daintypaws series by Andrew Lawston
Domini Mortum by Paul Holbrook
And, of course, all of my own works 😁
One of the things I enjoy about writing a book is figuring out the connections. Why does this character do this? How would this character react, and is it realistic? How do I get this character to do this, but after that?
It’s a puzzle that’s one of my favourite things to do.
Book cover of The Station 17 Chronicles by Oli Jacobs. There is a picture of a black station like an oil rig with a white background, and below is a black background with a large drop of blood in the middle.
Just finished reading The Station 17 Chronicles by
@olijbooks.bsky.social
I loved it! A mix of horror with elements of The Thing, and also elements of isolation of the station gives it a psychological thriller feel as well like the movie Triangle.
Thanks for another great #HorrorWritersChat!
Just want to highlight again that Cat Eye Press is now open for submissions for Don’t Go for the Vault: a Bank Robbery Horror Anthology! It’s a paying call, and I’d love to see some stories from yall!

Oh my sweet, amazing friendos of #HorrorWritersChat ...all I've been able to create since January is the attached illustration.
I would love some energy, but for now, self-care? (whatever that means.)
Y'all rock and I hope doing well. <3
six horror short fiction covers
cover for a horror fantasy novel
Thanks for another fun time, #HorrorWritersChat! I needed that. Everything is stupid right now...but all of you remain delightful.
As for promo, I suppose without a distributor all I have is my store, so here's that (and all my covers because it's fun);

Thanks Mary
I talked about Horror being an umbrella term for genre for me, so here my books
Check them out
They're good!
"HD Beird's use of visceral and sensual imagery is also a revelation to read and is essential to his writing style."

As mentioned in my non-horror works…
Kirk Sandblaster (space comedy): www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074BRG5XB
Mr Blank (noir thriller): www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B094SPJBHX
If you take a look, I hope you enjoy…
I choose to say I'm a Horror writer because Horror is so fluid
You can mesh it with any genre
I would argue, for example, that the comedy of Chris Morris can be classed as Horror
Especially Jam
So Horror to me is genre
Slap onto sci-fi, comedy, erotica, mystery
Sorted!

It’s worth it for the look on peoples faces…
It’s a stretch, but I think I can make it happen…
(Narrator: he could not make it happen)

So… aside from being VERY excited about Backrooms from Kane Pixels, I’ll also recommend:
The Last Band on Earth by @elainemwill.bsky.social
Meat by Dane Cobain
Apocalypse Barnes by @andrewlawston.bsky.social
Municipal Gothic by @raynewman.bsky.social
If samurais can fax Abe Lincoln, I reckon I can convince some folk that Jack the Ripper was also an EDM artist.
To be honest, my mental health did play a part in me embracing horror as my literary genre. Especially as the space comedy failed to gain an audience. Don’t want laughs? Have an insight into my nightmares then! *evil laugh*
