New paper out! We compared wheat and spelt in the field under irrigated vs rainfed conditions and conventional vs organic farming. Spelt showed greater resilience to drought, while soil management strongly shaped microbial communities🌾

The Pallavi Singh Lab is growing! 🌱 We are thrilled to welcome Alex Meadows to the team as our newest Research Assistant. Alex will be diving into our mistletoe and banana research and helping us push the boundaries of #PlantScience.
🌱 Pastures are far more than just grass. In a new @elhuyarzientzia.bsky.social article, our team member Arantza Aldezabal explains why well-managed grasslands are key for biodiversity, climate regulation, fire prevention and sustainable food systems. Read more here: zientzia.eus/artikuluak/l...
New paper out in @pplplantarum.bsky.social! Jon Miranda-Apodaca, from the Usue Pérez López research line, reveals that stem EBCs play a stronger role than leaf EBCs in ion accumulation under salt stress in quinoa. This is a key trait for breeding more salt-tolerant traditional crops.

🚨Our opinion piece on nitrification inhibitors is out now in #EuropeanJournalOfSoilScience 🌱
We explore key uncertainties and propose strategies to unlock their full potential for sustainable agriculture 🌍💡

📢Excited to share a new paper from my PhD thesis at @fisioklima.bsky.social!🌾Sorghum maintained better photosynthetic performance and water use efficiency than maize under high CO2, hig temperature and drought, even without a growth advantage. A promising climate-resilient crop!

🌿 Did you know? @thepallavisingh.bsky.social has received a landmark @aria-research.bsky.social grant to develop PlantPlug, a project to tranasform mistletoe into a programmable interface that helps host plants thrive under climate stress.

You’re chatting with a friendly scientist about your last paper submission… until he reveals who he really is… 😈
📢Big shout-out to our team members Arantza del Canto and Amaia Alberdi! They recently discussed in Euskadi Irratia's show Ekosfera about the vital role of small farmers and the challenges young people face entering agriculture🎙️🚜

Excited to hit the stage at Pint of Sience tomorrow, 19:00 at
Kubrick Bilbao!🍻🌾
N₂O may be laughing gas, but its climate punch is no joke. Can modern wheat help cut these emissions and keep our breakfast toast guilt-free? Grab a pint and find out! 🌍🔬
Heads up, science fam—NUMAPS is about to level up!
@amoadrian-bl.bsky.social ’s latest soil experiment is nearly ready for prime time 🚀🌍
Keep an eye on the flasks—new soil science results are coming soon 🔬🚀
Last week I started a new position as a Senior Research Officer in @thepallavisinghlab.bsky.social at @universityofessex.bsky.social! Looking forward to new challenges and continuing to grow as a plant researcher🌾
Welcome to the Pallavi Singh Lab account! We explore how plants respond to water stress, investigate shoot-root interactions via monocot grafting & work on enhancing photosynthesis. Follow us for research updates, fieldwork adventures & behind the scenes lab moments!

This week our group @numaps-news.bsky.social presented a poster highlighting our research lines and ongoing work at the IX Research Conference of the Science and Technology Faculty, organized by the University of the Basque Country! 🧪🌿 Check it out!
Our team member Dr. Asier Herrero participated in the Science Coffee event @upvehu.bsky.social , discussing the future of forests and how climate change impacts their resilience. 🌳
📢Our team member Maddi Artamendi was recently interviewed by Campusa Magazine, discussing her study published in @natureecoevo.bsky.social. The research highlights how declining pollinator diversity negatively impacts plant reproduction.

🚀 Exciting news! Daniel Marino and @diegotazueco.bsky.social from our group have visited the CBGP in Madrid to share insights on root system research as part of the Roots4Future network. 🌱✨Great discussions on plant resilience & future collaborations. 🌾
👩🏻🔬 Today, on the International Day of Cereals, we highlight our research on wheat and barley 🌾 Their growth depends on efficient nitrogen use, and at NUMAPS, we study how to optimize it for better yields and sustainability. Science for a greener future! 🌱🔬
Exciting news! Our team at @fisioklima.bsky.social is growing! 🎉 Welcome @kortabarriapz.bsky.social, who is starting her PhD on resurrection plants, species that can survive extreme dehydration🌱💧. Looking forward to the great research ahead!
🌱Understanding nitrogen use in cereals starts at the molecular level🔬We use Brachypodium distachyon calluses as a tool to unravel the molecular mechanisms behind nitrogen use in cereals. Every step, from petri dishes to fields, brings us closer to more sustainable agriculture🌾
🌱Field season begins! ✨We've started our wheat experiments, testing nitrogen use efficiency under real field conditions. Excited for the season ahead! 🚜
PhD candidates conduct research, publish and teach. Maybe the first step to improving PhD conditions is recognising PhD candidates as actual workers and researchers—not students—and treating them accordingly.
🌍✨ Had the pleasure of giving a talk on soil and soil health as part of the ECHO project, a fantastic citizen science initiative empowering people to monitor and protect European soils 🏞️🌱
Big thanks to Ibercivis and Sagarrak for making it happen 🙌
This study was conducted during Ander Yoldi's (@upvehu.bsky.social) international postdoc at @itqbnova.bsky.social (Oeiras, Portugal🇵🇹) and supervised by @rubenvicper.bsky.social (@irnasa.bsky.social & GREEN-IT). A great example of international collaboration in crop resilience research! 🌍🌾
