Family lore is that when I learned as a small child that my parents didn't have VCRs when they were kids, I was concerned that all they could watch was Sesame Street and all my grandparents could watch was The News. No Cinderella at all 😔

I think that what groups that have experienced, essentially, apocalypses (indigenous North Americans and enslaved people in North America, for example) show is that *community* is what keeps people alive and vital even in the face of apocalypse.
I think we just saw John Korir set a new course record for Boston? 2:01:52?
A view looking down at my camera and scarf and the small fuzzy brown dog next to me
Great news!
Marcel Hug, like 10 minutes ahead of anyone else
C-130 flyover, but it happened too quickly to catch any pictures.
An SUV labeled Jack Fultz 1976 Champion going down Hereford Street on the marathon course
There's the Grand Marshall carrying the 1976 champion!
I'm in my favorite spot, only about an hour before the earliest wheelchair racers pass. Just got passed by a group of Australians carrying inflatable kangaroos and an extremely well-bundled group of East Africans. Crossing my fingers for a marathon dog friend to come hang out by me soon.
I am well slathered! And I brought a hat so I don't burn my hair part this year.
The Boston Skyline silhouetted against a very blue sky over the Charles River
This does seem like a pretty ideal day to watch other people run the Boston Marathon!
It sure seems like all Boston sports teams with goalies should remember that, whole we are blessed with excellent goalies, *scoring more goals* is a very important part of actually winning games.
what the hell happened to the Bruins????
it's an interesting time to be working on grant writing and funding strategies at a medical school! But there have been some good moments for me personally over the last couple of months. Hope you're holding up as well as you possibly can!!
hello!!
"It just felt like the floor had fallen out. Like all the support that I thought we had was gone. Maybe this is naive, but I didn't think that would happen in Massachusetts."
there is functionally a conspiracy to gaslight you into believing that, so it's understandable

The Strokes played Coachella against a backdrop listing all the world leaders that had been assassinated by the CIA, a count of the number of universities bombed in Iran, and footage of the bombing of the last university in Gaza
Thirteen years ago today I woke up to a phone call from the city's automated system telling me not to leave my house, looked at my cell and had a stream of texts from a friend who heard gunfire close to her home in the night, and spent the next hour trying to figure out WTF was going on.
Happy birthday, Tim Curry!
It's a good one!!
"Youch!"
Yeah, this is my favorite weekend!
There are definitely moments when I feel very Bostonian, but perhaps the most Bostonian I have felt was in the big crowd outside the Paul Revere House last year on the 250th anniversary of the midnight ride while everyone chanted "Paul! Paul! Paul!" in unison.
It's still a pretty good view from the other good bridge on the Charles.
A grey and cloudy day on the Charles River. Most of Boston is covered in fog and clouds
Another perfect spring weekend in Boston. Drizzly, 50 degrees, and 30,000 people are about to run around for a long time.
I spent a while yesterday afternoon trying to find a place that wasn't a betting website to follow the match - the best place ended up being the Football Maroc instagram stories, but they weren't showing Malian highlights... Thanks for sharing this goal!
Tout pour Aïssata! 🦢⚽
This would have been a great opportunity for follow up questions! I suspect he's not wanting to go back to a pre-emergency quota act of 1921 policy without numerical restrictions ... I suspect he's just racist and doesn't know much about the history of immigration?
