Fun fact: the green rock used for the desk front behind the speaker podium in the Uno Assembly Hall is made out of serpentinite from Aosta Valley, Italy. ⚒️ 🧪 #UrbanGeology
Just astonishing 🧪🌍🌕

Kate hands out medals at the end ... I'll tell her to keep an eye out for you!
What are the units on the axes?
Great North Run mate - no danger of those sort of conditions on Tyneside in mid-September.
I remember being able to hear this gig from where I lived, just over a mile away.
It’s official: the UK is rejoining Erasmus! 👏🇪🇺
Can’t see the SNP doing well there, to be fair
"Stranger from another planet welcome to our hole,
Just strap on your guitar and we'll play some rock'n'roll"
One of my favourite lyrics from one of my favourite bands 🎸
Someone on our street has two (lovely) dogs called Norman and Stanley. I so want them to add another and call it Fletcher.
Have been thinking off and on about this overview for He for a bit. Mostly because it promises an actual use for all that classical oil and gas structural geology stuff that those of us taught before fracking took off all know but can't use anymore.
I love that you keep publicising our paper 👍. It is worth noting that none of this would have happened if Jon had not built up several decades experience working in the hydrocarbon sector. Not an endorsement of anything those businesses did(n't) do - just a fact.

Found it ... a good few years ago.
I'm just finishing up Season 10 (Russia) of Mike Duncan's Revolutions podcast. Season 7 (on 1848) was amazing.
1848 would probably have been the most enthralling but now running it a close second.
Growing up in late 70s early 80s Edinburgh, St Etienne were the only French club side anyone could name, thanks to the impact this team made.
Five of my last seven TRAC return days have fallen on weekend (4) or statutory holidays (1). Having been a HoD (2014-2017) I have zero faith in TRAC as a representation of the work of my department.

She should bring him up here to play junior football in the Russell Foster Youth League ... doesn't get much realer than that.
Five!
At a former institute they introduced paired vivas to try and prevent any (overt) bias; one external examiner with one faculty member. One pair each had a glass eye. The students they saw all complained of being put off when confronted by four eyes all pointing in different directions.
😔 Precisely the sort of issue that arises. Not just the examinees though ...
It also introduces a wealth of issues regarding safeguarding and fairness in how assessment is conducted. These ended undergrad vivas with external examiners, which were an integral part of assessment in my discipline (Earth Sciences) until about 15 years ago.
A large bird sits highest on a perch. On the next level down two birds have some of the first bird's droppings on them. The next level down has six birds with quite a lot of droppings on them. The four birds on the lowest level are completely coated in droppings.
Respectfully disagree
Monochromatic photograph of rock band The Stranglers in Iceland in 1978. Four men in 1970s clothes standing on a rocky landscape with snowy mountains in the background.
For the fashion conscious it is probably just as well Apollo was a child of the 60s and not the 70s. 🐀 The Stranglers.
500 ranking points and disqualification from a slam would be a better deterrent (although DM would probably be happy to miss RG!).
