House Republicans want to gut school funding and eliminate free meals for kids across Michigan.
House Democrats are fighting for a budget that puts students first: healthy meals, job training, rural support, and safe schools.
Michigan’s kids can’t afford these cuts.

Today, @mihousedems unveiled their vision for education—because funding isn’t just numbers, it’s about meeting students’ needs. Our K-12 budget invests in meals, rural schools, safety, CTE programs & more. Every Michigan student deserves the chance to succeed.
It’s CPR & AED Awareness Week—a critical reminder that quick action saves lives. With 40% of pediatric cardiac arrests tied to sports, we must stay prepared. I’m proud to have helped bring 50 AEDs to Michigan schools and push for stronger emergency plans. #CPRWeek
On the House floor, Mason’s Manual quietly guides the process. Since 1935, it’s been the go-to rulebook for 77 of 99 state chambers—ensuring motions, votes & debate are handled with order, fairness & respect. Democracy works best when the process works.
I am committed to making our community the premier place to start and raise a family. Like @biggretchenwhitmer.bsky.social called on us to do tonight during the State of the State, I will put partisanship aside and work to invest in our children and help cut costs for hard working Michigan families.
House Republicans have introduced extreme legislation to help overturn marriage equality. Instead of tackling real issues, they're focused on rolling back civil rights—putting families at risk. As supporters of the LGBTQ+ community, House Democrats are committed to fighting against this resolution.
FOIA expansion (SBs 1/2 passed the Senate 1/29 by a wide 33-2 margin) is a winner. Yet, just today, the House Speaker told the media that the FOIA bill is, “dead.” So, should we be content with another press conference, or a commitment to bring forward real transparency bills?
We ABSOLUTELY need to do more to improve the public’s trust of public officials and institutions, but promoting bills that fail to create real transparency while telling Michiganders, “don’t get your hopes up,” about BI-PARTISAN FOIA expansion is political sleight of hand.
As we celebrate #WearRedDay and #AmericanHeartMonth, take a minute to brush up on the signs of heart attacks and strokes—being prepared can save a life. I’m reflecting on the life-saving law I sponsored to ensure schools have a cardiac response plan in place.
Yesterday, I attended the ceremonial signing for “Jordan D’s Law,” which increases protections for kids and vulnerable Michiganders from threats of online sexual extortion. We honor his memory with these bills, ensuring perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice.
Black history is American history. This month, I encourage everyone to explore the stories of resilience, excellence and leadership that have shaped our communities. Together, we can honor the past and continue striving for progress
Thank you to the people of Wyoming, Grand Rapids, and Byron Township for entrusting me with the honor to serve you!
Today kicked off the 103rd Legislature, and @mihousedems.bsky.social are ready to work hard to build up the people of Michigan! The chamber was full of family and loved ones, including mine who came to see me sworn in for my second term.
KINGS OF THE NORTH! #OnePride
State representative John Fitzgerald testifies in committee.
Sextortion is a heinous crime that targets our youth. Yesterday, Rep. @johnformi.bsky.social, Hope and @jmhill926.bsky.social's bill package passed committee. We're one step closer for a vote on the House floor!
Hey, Michigan! You always show up 👀, you lift up your voices 🗣️, & I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and keep working hard to bring home real change for you 🫵🏻. Let’s do this!
