This is the heart of the matter: Social media content creators ape corporate media but dispense with the decades of policies, practices, and procedures that protect employees and audiences alike. They are amateurs in every sense and are replacing professional content with unsafe, half-assed slop.

David Wilcock, former star of "Ancient Aliens" and an early proponent of Pizzagate and QAnon, took his own life after a "mental health crisis," according to social media posts by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, Corey Goode, and a Boulder County Sheriff's Dept. media statement. He was 53.

James Dean Behind the Scenes: The Legend’s Life In Pictures The beloved actor had a short but iconic career—but before he became a star, he was also a friend, a farmhand, and an adorable baby

Seems weird for Architectural Digest to run a photo spread of James Dean's life, given that Dean is not a building, did not build one, and his L.A. house burned down with nothing to show. Doubly strange that the spread had no buildings in it. www.architecturaldigest.com/story/james-...

Al-Masudi on Egypt NOTE

I have added to my page on al-Masudi's account of ancient Egypt his subsequent chapter on the founding and history of Alexandria, which contains stories from the Alexander Romance as well as legends about Shaddad bin 'Ad, supposed builder of the pyramids. www.jasoncolavito.com/al-masudi-on...

Today is my 45th birthday and the 25th anniversary of my writing about "alternative archaeology" and pseudohistory on the internet.

It's not that "humanity" has forgotten this--almost everyone understands this instinctively--but rather tech bro elites and corporate capitalism intentionally try to destroy tradition to sell us a commodified, degraded copy and purge potential counterweights to their own power and control.

It's a mistake to posit that progress and tradition are mutually incompatible, just as it is a mistake to define "progress" solely by conformity to 1960s-era utopian ideas. Most people want stability and continuity with steady improvements to their lives. Too much unnecessary change causes unrest.

The ancient alien legacy of the late pseudo-archaeologist, Erich Von Däniken - The Skeptic The death of Erich Von Däniken earlier this year leaves behind a pseudohistorical ancient-alien legacy tinged with its author's racist views.

I'm mentioned in this Skeptic (UK) article about the life and legacy of Erich Von Däniken. www.skeptic.org.uk/2026/04/the-...

Fun fact: Evil-Lyn was originally going to be named "Sultra" and was intended to be a sexy vamp modeled on Sophia Loren before cooler heads prevailed and realized you couldn't have a seductress in a toy line aimed at 6-year-olds. See the original concept drawing below.

As horrific as it is, there is worse to come: Trump is limited by his own incompetence, but he laid bare that the only constraint on power in America is the president's own restraint. No one will stop the next, more competent, and more villainous dictator either.

The Alexander Romance The Alexander Romance is often described as Antiquity's most successful novel. The Romance is a collection of legendary narratives about Alexander the Great that blend history, myth, and fantasy...

Researching the Alexander Romance, I was surprised that the Greek version wasn't translated into English until the 20th century and many versions haven't been. I collected some public domain translations and translated the Coptic so they will be online. www.jasoncolavito.com/the-alexande...

This gives me flashbacks to middle school. An astronaut spoke at our school, and the principal chose me for a local TV news interview. The reporter asked me about a dozen topics, including the space toilet, and edited me down to one humiliating sentence making it sound like I loved toilets.

So bizarre to argue that conversion therapy, which is supposedly a medical/mental health treatment, is a free speech issue with an audience of one. It feels like establishing a "right to quackery" and relying on the free market to sort it out will only end in tragedy.

Looks like we're back to forced conversion trauma nationwide. Even when framed as being about the therapists' "right" to perform conversions, this seems to be part of the Court's evolving theory that minors are parental property who do not have inherent rights.

I just found out today that Italy changed its citizenship law last year so that most descendants of Italian immigrants no longer qualify for automatic citizenship as they always had. I'm not sure I ever would really have gone, but losing that dream makes me sad.

Bill Maher came out as a believer in alien visitation in the "New Rules" segment on "Real Time" because "serious people" and "military pilots" see things they can't understand. He repeated the usual ufology claims with little critical thought but unwarranted trust in politicians.

It was darkly funny, though, to see the influencers complaining that women get a free ride in life for being "beautiful" while being completely unaware that their influencing careers made them millions of dollars only because they are handsome, muscular young men who show off their muscles.

It seems like you should be able to be supportive of young men, offer advice on living a good life, and even complain about the unfairness of late capitalism without calling women dimwitted housekeepers or blaming all life's problems on the Jews.

After watching Louis Theroux's "Inside the Manosphere," it's weird how personable and engaging the manosphere influencers seem right up until they lurch into wild misogyny, homophobia, and antisemitism. It seems like some influencer should be able to offer the support without the hate.

Nicholas Brendon, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Star, Dies at 54 Best known for playing the lovable sidekick on the groundbreaking drama, he also had a recurring role in 'Criminal Minds' and starred in the film adaptation of Charles Busch's 'Psycho Beach Party.'

In youth, everyone gets one high school TV show where the characters are exactly where you are at the same time as you. For me, it was "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." So sad to hear about Nicholas Brendon's passing. This one hit a little harder than usual. www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/n...
