City Won't Commit to Safer Walking and Biking on Atlantic Avenue Despite Upcoming Rezoning - Streetsblog New York City Council Members Chi Ossé and Crystal Hudson say a traffic safety redesign is a precondition for their support for rezoning Atlantic Avenue.

@nyc-dot.bsky.social must commit to true streetscape improvements on Atlantic Ave as @chiosse.bsky.social and CM Hudson insisted at this week's Council hearing! @sophlebo.bsky.social continues her great coverage of AAMUP in @nyc.streetsblog.org: nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/03/28/c...

Having to fundraise to run the Vanderbilt Open Street every year is not sustainable. This weekend we rallied with Open Streets organizers from around NYC asking
Mayor Adams to provide truly sustainable funding for Open Streets. Without a change, Open Streets won't survive beyond 2025.

Open Streets Won't Survive Without More Money From the City, Organizers Warn - Streetsblog New York City Open streets have shrunk significantly — and more cuts could be coming if the city doesn't cough up more funding, volunteers warned.

Open streets are a refuge for me - places to meet up more safely outdoors and a small breath of fresh air among NYC's primarily car-dominated streets.

City government needs to make sure this incredible vibrant program has what it needs to thrive.

This program relies heavily on volunteer labor and doesn't have near the needed amount of city support. Until we get there, please consider making a contribution to support us: www.gofundme.com/f/vanderbilt...
