2 Screenshots from the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" (2010): First, a wide-eyed man stares ahead with two friends behind him in winter clothes, snow falling lightly around them; subtitle reads, "That poster needs more exclamation marks." Second, a close-up of two identical posters on a brick wall promoting a battle of the bands event, filled with dramatic text and multiple exclamation marks, as a character stands in front of them; subtitle reads, "Oh, man, we're gonna get killed."

Passivity alternating sides makes it much less dangerous. I’m curious how that changes epee.

Carney is pretty careful to bury his strongest statements in sentences long enough they can't be snipped onto Fox.

I'm not sure we have the stomach to have that discussion out loud. The subject is too dire, and we risk drawing the eye of Sauron and making things worse.

it will be interesting to see how the new rules shake out. Fixed time with unlimited scores will be fun!

So if someone picks up a load from Iraq, pays a toll to Iran, the US Navy will let it through? This could get really funny.

Even a tariff is a major move, since it requires declaring the origin.

The Texas stand-your-ground law seems to legalize spontaneous shoot-outs. But a scheduled duel would be too far.

One of my favorite Yugoslav designs is the K67 modular kiosk. Injection molded modular plastic building often used for newspaper vendors, coffee shops and info kiosks. Could be linked together like legos. www.archpaper.com/2023/01/univ...

But it is shrivelling into a rump of regional chauvinists, cranks, and reactionaries, so he needs a new host.

Projection, and wish-casting. His long-march through the Progressive Conservatives to hollow them out and replace them with a Calgary-school quasi-libertarian/prairie evangelical fusion was wildly successful.

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

I’m on board with Canada’s rearmament. But I have sympathy for Americans who have lost faith that US forces are soldiers for freedom while they merc random boats in the Atlantic.

Why fund globe spanning armed forces if they merely enable greater self-destruction? The last time the US was in a good fight was ‘91.

Definitely fine for working in the yard. Ok before sunset if I might plausibly have been doing same.

Yeah. Making this much money and then engaging in corrupt politics is a weird sequence.

A side view of a large brown aquatic rodent (a beaver) as it rests on a submerged log just below the surface of the water. The beaver is in a small patch of open water surrounded by ice, with beige reeds sticking up in the background. It is facing to the right and is munching on a slender stick of wood.

I think this might be my favourite shot from a recent session with a pair of Canadian Beavers making the most of some patches of open water on their mostly frozen pond.
