5/ This paper isn’t just about data—it’s a reflection on how far HL research has come and where it should go. 🌍 Increasing diversity in languages, contexts, & methods is essential for the field’s growth. Explore our findings here: doi.org/10.1163/1550...

4/ The expert survey also revealed an embrace of HLs as unique native language varieties with a focus on individual variation & inclusive definitions. Advanced psycholinguistics & neurolinguistics methods are driving the field forward. 🧠

3/ Our study highlights trends in subfields, languages, and methodologies. Spanish, Korean, and Chinese dominate HL research, while Turkish & syntax studies show negative sentiments—a key area for developments. 🌐
