In my circle we uh... don't exactly expect a lot of help from non-queer people at all. So any actual out-and-out public support is a great surprise. The bar is so low, for so long, that people just threw it away since it was useless.

Every time you see a retelling of someone playing Caves of Qud it seems like one of those stories where no sentence has any connection to the previous sentence. But after you play the game you kinda just think shit like "yeah, that makes sense but you could have avoided that by growing another face"

Ideally a game would have:

-Proper tutorial to introduce the player to the game/world/basic mechanics
-In game guide to look up terms and basic mechanics (Last Epoch is a good example of this)
-Way to look up stuff in a wiki easily (like Guild Wars 1 or 2)
-In game news feed (including patch notes)

MMOs have a long way to go for actually teaching players how to play. Some form of basic "here's how mechanics work" in game guide would be nice. Then maybe easy access to a wiki for deep reading.

But they also rarely actually have an in-game news thing to see what events are even happening.

Honestly I'm kind of at a loss as to why people aren't treating Twitter/X on the same level as Truth social. It's the same shit now ("now" being like a few years ago). Stop treating it with any level of respect.

Yeah I'm not even sure I can say Runescape is way worse, WoW has some absolute toxic trash creatures existing in it's ecosystem. It's like a race to the bottom for a (sadly large) section of both games. Though in WoW's case that may just be because its a more "visible" game so more people see them.

More EverQuest learning for me: Used the Nexus gates for the first time on Quarm. Basically a circle of stones you go to which teleport you to the GODDAMN MOON on a 15 minute cycle, then when in the Nexus you use a smaller teleport on 10 minute cycle to go to one of 4 places on Norrath. Really neat.

But we nearly are at level 20 on our beastlord, though we had a near death in Paludal Caverns.

Okay, this isn't a live-service game.

It's a small, $15 regular 5v5 multiplayer game. The only DLC is a $5 'supporter pack' that gives every character one more skin and the soundtrack.

It's exactly what people have been demanding because they HATE live-service games. And then gets punished as one!

Also another player cast a buff on me at one point that gives levitate, see invisible, and a few other things... which is great! Normally! But since it makes the character bob up and down floating above the ground, the camera also bobs up and down and it was being a problem so I had to cancel it.

First time playing EverQuest since late March and I was worried I'd go back into it and be like "eeehh, not feeling it anymore" as I tend to fall off games sometimes.

But nope, still fucking love EverQuest (especially Quarm). Got our Beastlord kitty to level 18, and tried out bard a bit.

Found the ultimate strat to solve the issue of waiting to restore mana/health by sitting in EQ: Just play balatro while waiting lmao

Had some more rough losses in Pokemon Champions, but I think I finally have my team in a better spot now with some changes and nabbed a few wins. Now its:

-Corviknight

It really sucks putting off playing Final Fantasy XIV again until BST comes out or something and trying to avoid spoilers, having only played up to 7.3.

Because a trailer just launched for 7.5 I guess so my timeline is just a bunch of spoilers of characters so OKAY, guess I just know that now.

Kinda gave up at the end since we died to a boss I didn't want to fight and the game autosaved after, taking away half our cash and missing the items I used.

And the best part is the game confirmed if I wanted to fight the boss, but asked if I wanted to run instead of fight, and defaulted to "no".
