How wonderful to welcome Sir Ed Davey to Upton Heath yesterday to celebrate the power of community.
Alongside Dorset Wildlife Trust, it was the community that came together to secure the section of Upton Heath that was up for sale and ensure that it is protected for future generations.

Today I spoke in Parliament to congratulate Dorset Wildlife Trust and local people on their incredible efforts to secure Upton Heath.
I asked the Prime Minister to demonstrate his commitment to nature and to legislate to extinguish historic planning consents.
Recess was a jam-packed whirlwind 🌪️
It was great to be out and about across the constituency and I'm now looking forward to continue championing the issues that are important to the people of Mid Dorset & North Poole back up in Parliament 🏆️

On Friday morning I popped down to Wareham Quay to speak with residents.
It was a busy morning and was great to see so many people.

📦️ A quick update at the end of my 6 hour shift with Royal Mail.
📮 It has been a fascinating morning looking into the logistics of the process.
📯 I will continue to be a champion for our Posties in Parliament.
Now that the Easter Break is over I wanted to bring you an update on the sale of Upton Heath.

Let's demonstrate the strength of local feeling for this special site.
Upton Heath is at risk This area is loved by the whole community and is critical for nature. Mineral extraction will destroy its character and could risk its status as an SSSI sign my petition and if you can please make a donation to the appeal by Dorset wildlife trust Image shows Vikki walking her dog by the sign showing the auction details with Heath in background
We must not lose this heath
Pls do not scroll by-local or not
My Petition could be critical in proving site is Asset of Community Value & help prevent a private sale sign👇👇

It was a privilege to meet with Kate, Helen and the team at STARS Dorset this week.

Today I have launched my petition so that local people can have their voices heard. I will be presenting this petition in Parliament.
If you want to ensure that Upton Heath is protected for nature and for the community you can sign the petition by heading to my website: www.vikkislade.uk
Following on from my post yesterday, I wanted to update you all that we may have found a route to help protect Upton Heath through the Localism Act.
I have written to the Council to ask them to urgently consider the land for sale as an Asset of Community Value.
I will keep you updated 🤞
You may have heard that part of Upton Heath is up for sale.
I am working hard behind the scenes to see how we can raise the funds to protect this precious landscape.
We must make sure that Upton Heath is protected for nature and for our community.
We must push on using every lever we have. Society has moved on, MPs have moved on, the Lords should not be allowed to stand in the way
I spent 10 hours on shift with crews from the South Western Ambulance Service and was blown away by their professionalism and compassion. Under huge pressure, they deliver expert care with calm reassurance. We must back our frontline teams.
Some highlights from last week across the constituency and in Parliament.
As always I will work hard to use this platform to be the strong voice constituents deserve in Westminster and I will continue to work hard for Mid Dorset & North Poole.
If you live in MDNP and ever want to visit jus drop me an email and we can arrange to show you round, watch a debate & give you an insight into democracy in action!
Ahead of my meeting with Minister Gould this afternoon, I have written to her to share some of my concerns in advance. I question the current effectiveness of the Academy Trust system. Originally set up to turn around struggling schools, the system has stagnated and families feel failed.
It was another packed week in Mid Dorset and Parliament.
Swipe to see some of what I've been up to.
If there’s anything I can help with, email me at - vikki.slade.mp@parliament.uk
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service is proposing the closure of eight fire stations due to funding. No final decisions have been made.
A public consultation is now open.
I’ve met the Chief Fire Officer and raised funding concerns in Parliament.

Today I asked the Prime Minister to ensure the unelected House of Lords does not block the will of the elected House of Commons on the Assisted Dying Bill. With public polling showing strong support, this is a democratic issue.
Youth unemployment is soaring.
The Chancellor’s jobs tax, combined with the threat of AI, is bearing down on opportunities, and young people are facing increasingly difficult and uncertain times.
With no clear action being taken, I asked the government to set out its plans to tackle this issue.
Raising the work of MYTIME Young Carers in Dorset, I asked the Minister what his department is doing to tackle the poorer outcomes young carers often face.
I was disappointed by the response.
I’ll be meeting with Ed Davey and MYTIME to discuss how we can strengthen their vital work.
Yesterday I voted in Parliament in favour of banning social media for under-16s. The proposal was rejected.
Many adults have contacted me with their views, but I also wanted to hear directly from young people. That’s why I’ve taken the question into local schools to ask students what they think.
My lovely Comms Officer is moving to a role closer to home, so I’m looking for someone to join my team in Wimborne
🧡 If you love media, politics & creative storytelling, this role is for you 🧡
