I agree with much of your proposal. I was a child when I learned about the electoral college and even then I thought it was stupid.These are not new concepts, just ones that have been ignored and FEARED. Fear of losing power. THIS SYSTEM, THESE PEOPLE, WILL NEVER ALLOW IT.

The laws that abolished slavery, allowed women and people of color to vote, stopped segregation and any other progressive non-discriminatory provisions and safeties for the "weak", happened because of freedom fighters, not government officials.

Since when have any of those things mattered to the US government? Where are those safeguards now? I don't want to eliminate voting, if that's what you mean. The little humanitarian protections that we have now, we're not part of the original Constitution.
