The fact it's so uniform across the board from so many companies and governments trying to normalize this should terrify you. If we're not careful, we'll be in a world where you have to present ID to go to the bathroom. You shouldn't need ID just to talk to people on the internet.

It's a push that is coming from several tech giants and governments simultaneously, which is worrying in so many ways. And it's coming from so many angles too, from android developers to Roblox, to Google, to discord...I even saw something about a guy trying to push it onto Linux just now.

You know what I would like to know? Why are all the conservative Christians and terrified church groups obsessed with literal revelation saying NOTHING about this age verification business? It's so pervasive. I mean if I had that mindset, I'd be running around screaming "Mark of the Beast".

Yeah looks like I confirmed it picks up from the series. Which I'm happy about. Serenity was a decent film, but it was too big and rushed to tie up all the big threads. But it was the smaller threads of the series that made it so interesting.

Yeah but the actors are older now, so it would be kind of weird and jarring unless they did a x years later thing. Wonder if the cartoon would be a reboot? Or if they pick up story from the series, or from serenity film?

2026 started out pretty crappy...but they're trying to bring back Firefly, as a cartoon, with the original cast.

So...maybe there's hope for the world after all.

Played Wizardry 1 (the remake from a few years ago) for the first time this weekend, and wow this game showed me how much videogame DNA comes from D&D. So many things that seem obvious to many people (xp, levels, a feedback loop) were probably invented there.

Now to find what D&D is inspired by.
