Too much of the USA’s decline is being framed in terms of “look at our empire being torn apart by clowns” - that’s exactly the problem: this decline is the logical outcome of when that same will to dominate is turned inwards. (I know that’s an obvious point, I’m just seeing this framing everywhere.)

Song Thrush: Brown, speckled chest. Great Spotted Woodpecker: Black, white, red. Rock Dove: Grey, iridescent neck. Collared Dove: Pale beige, black collar. Chaffinch: Male pinkish, female brown.
