On today's episode of The Story podcast from @thetimes.com, I travel to Gorton and Denton, the scene of a by-election that could change the course of British politics.
It's a story of online personalities, house prices, and decaying faith in the system.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work on a morning TV debate programme…
I really enjoy doing this show.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4IO... Inside the Freemasons HQ with @listentotimesradio.bsky.social and @darrylmorris.bsky.social
My journey into the mysterious headquarters of the Freemasons - the historical, secretive society - is on YouTube right now.
Watch here: youtu.be/E4IOTas5rPI?...
Recently, I got an unexpected invitation.
I was talking on Times Radio about Freemasons - the secretive, historical society, often accused of covertly ruling the world.
The next day, I got an email from the Freemason’s Grand Secretary, inviting me to meet him at their mysterious HQ.
I… said yes.
You can watch my journey into the heart of the Freemasons to meet their Grand Secretary here:

A single shared source of truth is essential for a functioning democracy.
Without it you’re left with fragmentation, polarisation and a perpetual culture war where the discourse focuses on what divides us rather than what we have in common.
My column from last week: www.ft.com/content/5060...
Violent crime has more than halved.
A succession of newsworthy events does not constitute a trend. The world people are fed online isn't real. Bad faith actors want to convince us the world is collapsing because it's lucrative for them.
Don't buy their snake oil.
just a couple of serious guys making some serious TV

You, me and @adamboulton.bsky.social chewing the fat on Times Radio right now if you fancy coming by for a chat?
Boulton and Bolton not taking off though.
It’s our final night live from Cheltenham Literature Festival on Times Radio.
Everyone else has gone home but Kim and I are still here, like those people who stay a bit too long at the end of a party.
It’s you, me and Jeremy Vine having a lovely time at Cheltenham Literature Festival.
On @listentotimesradio.bsky.social all this weekend.
“And over there you’ll find… some books.”
Hello from Cheltenham Literature Festival. I am here all weekend on Times Radio. Popping up throughout the day and then my show is live here from 10pm - with @helenlewis.bsky.social and Ian Hislop tonight.
All of this on Times Radio right now if you fancy coming by for a chat?
Cheers Raymond!
Hello.
Times Radio from 10pm.
I watched it on repeat as a child. I’d wake up the morning, press play, pause it to go to school, come home from school, press play and pick up where it left off, fall asleep to it, wake up… etc…
I went to meet controversial YouTuber Charlie Veitch.
He was a rising star of the conspiracy circuit, before being rejected by them, then finding a huge new community filming 'dystopian' Britain on YouTube.
It's a story about new media, technology, belief and belonging... and a complex human.
