That is "playing the race card" in the most awful way possible.

Particularly when Jon Sopel (one of the Agents) wrote a paean of praise on the appointment in the first place.

Novel approach needed for UK’s sick and unemployed A shift to local initiatives may help more people back into work

London is the only region not to have rising numbers of people who are economically inactive because of sickness: that’s not because Londoners are physically superior, it’s because we have a stronger, more dynamic and more varied economy:

Did you actually read what you posted? you know that relates to 2021-22, when the Tories were in power?

This is quite obviously fake. There's no random capitalisations and it's quite coherent. The content is completely insane, though, so who knows?

EXACTLY THIS.

But it costs more to bring the energy onshore. And people (Green MPs for instance) object to pylons going through their constituency.

It was always a risk. But desparate times, desperate measures. And there were many who praised it.

OMFG I had to go and check that this ACTUALLY happened.

Since when does the BBC ever do chyrons with a political party's branding, rather than their own? Not to mention this is during a pre-election campaign purdah.

Are you fucking insane?

Indeed. But that isn't a valid alternative. We need rooftop solar AS WELL.

Betrayal?? Brexit was the greatest betrayal of this country ever, bar none.

Positive in that people aren't being kept hanging around for months in unsuitable accommodation while their cases are being decided. Not so positive in that a lot are being turned down. And yes, Reform's idea is so bad that it makes the government look progressive!

Ed Miliband to double down on net zero with measures to combat Iran energy shock As fossil fuel prices soar ‘the era of clean energy security must come of age’, energy secretary will say

“These will include speeding up the warm homes plan to encourage the rapid take-up of solar panels and electric vehicles; expanding the use of solar on public land; and delinking gas and electricity prices, to cut consumers’ bills.”

She wasn't being expected to run a political campaign though, was she?

Actually, they have got through most of the backlog as I understand it - decisions are coming through thick and fast, which is why a lot of the hotels are closing.

They oppose them because it is popular with local NIMBYs, from whom the Greens get a lot of votes.

Interestingly, it was made by Jon Sopel amongst others, when praising Mandelson's appointment!

Not the Daily Mail. BBC and other news outlets have reported on local Greens opposing solar farms etc. And one of their MPs (Adrian Ramsey) famously was opposing pylons carrying energy from wind farms in his constituency.

Whilst opposing every measure to increase green energy locally, such as solar farms and infrastructure such as cabling? Don't make me laugh.

he would have been appointed if they had known about his treachery, however.

Its weird how some people are clutching their pearls over this aspect of the matter. Trump is not a usual president, you can't appoint the usual type of ambassador. Desperate times, etc. And if you look at who Trump has appointed as ambassadors...wow. Hardly the great and the good. I don't think

Boris Johnson was made Foreign Secretary in 2016, after failing a security vetting and being denied sensitive Government information during his time as a Minister. The media didn't care then, they don't care now, and it wasn't the reason why Theresa May resigned.

The media are hypocrites.

So we just have to accept the media bias and "not make mistakes"? like that's possible. If there weren't any mistakes the media would just make them up.

Bugger. Hate Arsenal, but LOATHE City.

The Green Party (and other NIMBYs) talk a lot about how things have to benefit ‘local communities’. What about the national interest? Why is it okay to oppose something that costs you a little but massively benefits the whole country. We don’t take this approach (rightly) to taxes.
