The cyberattack on The British Library in October 2023 knocked out ebooks and almost ever other computer thing there for years.

Ebooks just came back. They were knocked out everywhere using the BL’s license (legal deposit libraries I think? More libraries?)

Distributed physical copies matter.

“Everybody’s using AI for everything nowadays, and if you don’t, you’re a misfit outsider who should be stoned to death in the town square, and then resurrected virtually from your data so you can be stoned to death in the virtual town square, for infinity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/04/15/o...

Like the guy below, I have a best friend named The Gooch. I wonder how many of us there are. My Gooch is infinitely more profane than any AI Gooch could be, and frequently tells me I can’t find my ass with both hands.

In terms of podcasts, or even your audiobook narrations, is it better for you if we download from one platform versus another? Happy to help the cause!

It feels (to me) like the use of “nutrition” and “hydration” for what you eat / drink during a race is to make it sound more…official? Important? In a gatekeeping kind of way. There’s nothing *nutritious* about any of it. You’re mainlining sugar b/c it is the best option under the circumstances. 😂

It’s broken because it is meant to benefit publishers, rather than authors, reviewers, or readers. Why put unpaid hours upon hours into review? You’re a world expert in your field and your time literally has a monetary value. AI written papers and review will increase until the system collapses.

This is why we ALWAYS download the primary literature if we’re going to cite it, kids. Don’t trust that some jabroni cited it correctly.

A drawing titled "Wild Rabbit vs. Easter Bunny". On the left, there's a wild cottontail bunny sitting down looking alert. On the right, there's a cartoonish Easter Bunny wearing a little polkadot vest and standing next to some colorful eggs. The wild bunny is labeled "Eyes on the sides of the head to watch for predators." and the Easter Bunny "Forward-facing eyes to hunt for meat." Wild bunny: "Active all year." Easter Bunny: "Only active in Spring - otherwise in diapause as a cyst?" Wild bunny: "Walks on four legs." Easter Bunny: "Unusual bipedal stance." Wild bunny: "Plain brown and white fur." Easter Bunny: "Distinctive vest-like markings." Wild bunny: "Gives birth to live young." Easter Bunny: "Steals and redistributes eggs; parasitic reproductive strategy?"

Few are brave enough to acknowledge the truth.

It’s funny but I can spot the exact moment certain people in my life started using AI to write their emails for them. Three different people who had unique voices now sound exactly the same over email.

“Both sides-ism” has destroyed public confidence in science and medicine. We need to stop platforming cranks, grifters, and the willfully ignorant.

Here’s the beauty in AI slop: as our feeds are overrun with artificial garbage, people will give up and retreat back into real spaces. I’m already doing it.

The AI bots will harass each other online until the venture capitalists realize there is no money to be made. And then it will all crash.
