Speaking from experience, it's an uncomfortable experience, and I think her tired look can allow for a couple of interpretations. Even the beer can is slowly starting to sweat.
Laura wonders why the fan had to give out at the worst moment possible. Not even sitting nude, beer in hand, seem to help with the sweltering heat... She, like other summer haters, wonders how anyone can tolerate such weather. Probably with an AC, a pool and enough money not to worry about it.
