And yeah I know ECW was doing it already before then, but that’s precisely why WCW and the WWF eventually pushing the envelope became so significant. They rewrote the book after years of your number one wrestling show being taped, canned squash matches.

The thing that was so cool about the nWo (and ultimately so bad for the business) was that they shit on every convention we knew in wrestling. At the time it felt so blasphemous but doesn’t land quite so hard looking back now. We didn’t know how good we had it as know-nothing marks.

But yeah of course back in the day we didn’t even have the option to stream. I get it, it just feels like it should be easier than having to start from scratch for each new thing I want to watch.

Well, yes and no. It works with mainstream shows. I can do that with Netflix, Prime etc, but inevitably there is something niche (like AEW, is it niche?) that need some extra effort to make it accessible. It’s frustrating.

Well, I had a bit of a rant last night about Triller, MyAEW and apps.

I shouldn’t rant.

But I am sad. To be honest the bit that breaks me the most is the loss of TV simplicity. There is something quite nice about being able to just stick the TV on and find your show. No browsers, sticks, casts.

Now that AEW+ on Triller is officially dead, I hope AEW gets to work on improving the UI for MyAEW and releasing more app versions. I've been very happy with the service so far but it still need work

I didn’t realise Triller was fucked, and I can sympathise with the lack of time for deployment but at the same time - let’s not pretend I am the only person who is now going to find it harder to watch the product in the UK.

Or their iPhone, iPad or console.

I find it incredibly hard to believe I am the only person who will be looking for an app to use on their smart TV.

Surely Tony buys it?

People in the US have been able to watch it on TNT/TBS. So they are sorted. If you are a VPN bod then be ready to use a laptop.

But I am a regular UK viewer who has likely spent thousands on programming and tickets since day one and I’d quite like to be able to pick up a remote and press a button.

You can hard disagree but if you’re already managing to access it then you aren’t positioned well enough to have a view. I am saying people in my position cannot. That’s basically it.

Just tried web browser access via smart tv. It’s woeful. Laggy, full of pauses and slow. Who uses a smart tv web browser?? 🙈

Look I get people wanting to support it - and it’s brilliant if you can access it okay - but denying that there are a lot of people having issues is nonsense.

I haven’t been able to airplay to the bush smart tv since I’ve owned it, just doesn’t work and I grudge buying a new one just for one poorly deployed app. It’s just another awkward process that involves another device. Anything that involves more than one device is convoluted. I’m sorry it just is.

The Samsung should be but nothing on their App Store

It doesn’t stream via the web browser app, playback error. It’s like that on Xbox also.

For the average normal TV owner it is barely accessible.

I have a subscription to it. Haven’t watched anything since figuring out my only other device Xbox series x - it won’t stream. Just comes up with an error. A known problem apparently!

Smart tv doesn’t have the app. Three different smart TVs in my house and none of them have a MyAEW app available.

Don’t have any of the above and a needless investment when I already pay a monthly fee for it. I’ve even asked their support about tv use and it’s not even an option to suggest the use of an app vs having to link another device. It’s farcical. What do I need to plug in to watch Netflix? Nothing.

Bush, Sharp and Samsung. Not available on any of those three.

MyAEW is barely accessible to most folk who aren’t using a convoluted method to cast to their TV. It doesn’t work on consoles smart tv or Apple devices. There’s no app. It just isn’t ready.

Doesn’t work with the two smart TVs in my home. Convoluted fixes to a simple problem. Don’t shut off FITE until you have your shit in order.

Triller by contrast was available on absolutely everything.

TrillerTV confirms that AEW Plus is being discontinued. ROH and AEW PPVs will no longer be available to purchase on the platform.

It isn’t available on iOS, Xbox, Xbox browser, or many many smart TVs. The website works on a computer but that’s not really how we need to be watching our live weekly shows.
