Thanks yeah that’s what we thought. Whackiest bird I’ve ever seen. The other birds freaked out. Our daily blackbird visitor (Bert) froze in place for a full five minutes.

Unfortunately not. When I looked online, the closest was an African shoebill but without the long legs. So so strange. We wondered had it escaped from a zoo maybe. Glad we both saw it, or I would thought I’d imagined it 🤣

Very large wingspan. The bill was like that of a duck. As large as a large barn owl. The other birds were scared
