US elites decided, like a school of fish, that climate concern is old, boring, "woke," square, not hip & popular any more. As usual, it was based almost entirely on internal elite dynamics. It had nothing to do with the actual public, which is more concerned than ever.

NEW - Former NDP minister and BC’s first First Nations woman elected to the legislature, Melanie Mark, says legislation to suspend DRIPA is coming, and she’s breaking with her own party to say it. #bcpoli #dripa #cdnpoli

Hey it's Friday and the Canadian oil industry made $1.5 billion in profits this week.

Public funding for private schools growing faster than public schools
When analyzed on inflation-adjusted per-pupil terms, from 1999-2000 and 2025-26 B.C. spending on public schools increased by 32% compared to 50% for private schools

Has anyone ever created an 'actuals vs forecasts' hedgehog chart type thing for IEA oil demand forecasts? It's be so interesting

Carney & Poilievre’s response to the oil price shock is to suspend federal gas taxes. This is a terrible idea that only rewards the gangsters' gouging, fueling demand for the oil and gas companies’ excessive prices... 🧵

I mean, I'd even take "we need to export less gas so we can use it ourselves" at this point but that's not on the table either
Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.
They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.
That energy is all around us.
And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

great recent @citationspod.bsky.social episode on this. "Shadow fleet" is generally used by US media to refer to ships that are conducting completely legal trade between sovereign nations...that the US doesn't like
to be clear, I agree with your point that the rhetoric—good or bad—is far less important than action, and there has been absolutely nothing on that front.
It's not good rhetoric to riddle your weak criticism of Israel's actions with false equivalencies about Hezbollah, just as it's not good rhetoric (read: disgustingly shameful) to reiterate your opposition to the Iranian govt when making a statement about Trump's threat to annihilate a civilization
It's clear there is nothing Israel could do that would get Canada's political class to stop supporting it. Israel has been committing a widely documented genocide for years, has slaughtered tens of thousands of children, and most Canadian politicians are absolutely fine with that. They don't care.
Spanish PM Pedro calls for the IMMEDIATE ARREST of Netanyahu
He said: "Netanyahu launched the worst possible unjustified attack against Lebanon. His contempt for life and international law is intolerable. He is a criminal that must be arrested immediately.” #cdnpoli
Just a regular reminder that the centers of both the Harvard and Yale campuses are named for Trump supporters, as is the main branch of the New York Public Library. Trump is the crowning glory of 40 yrs of work by an entire set of persistent, well-educated Americans, which is the actual problem.
NOW: B52 bombers are literally in the air on their way to Iran and hundreds of thousands of Iranians are in the streets waving flags and surrounding bridges & power plants.
Difficult to imagine this has any precedent in modern warfare.

GWP20 for methane greenhouse-gas accounting is good policy in NY State & beyond, as Mark Jacobson and I explain in a response to a recent criticism by Zeke Hausfather. First paragraph of our statement is shown below. Full statement is here: howarthlab.org/GWP20

The reporter follows up by asking Carney: “do you regret your initial support of this war?”
The point of this support, Carney replied, was “the ending of both that state sponsored terrorism and the nuclear ambitions of Iran.”
“That remains the case.”
"Get ready for Nuremberg"
Well said, British Airways
"Carney suggested that Trump—who prides himself as a dealmaker—may be hoping to secure his goals without having to follow through.... "There is often a gap between what's said publicly and what's happening privately," Carney said."
astonishingly shameful stuff from @mark-carney.bsky.social
Its sickening to witness open calls for genocide.
Its also crushing that there is no significantly organized mass anti war movement in the imperial core, despite decades of endless war and years of livestreamed genocide.
"Everything you do, even if small, matters" is ringing hollow for me tbh.
in persian culture, telling someone "we're going to kill you all" is considered deeply offensive
It's now been 3 hours since our supposed "ally" Donald Trump threatened genocide on a country of 93 million people.
We've had absolutely nothing from the UK government.
This doesn't come in a vacuum either - every day the US & Israel have been murdering innocent people.
