A screenshot from an HHS.gov website regarding the Childhood Immunization Schedule update announced by HHS on 1/5/2026. Highlighted text in grey reads “Ensures that all the diseases covered by the previous immunization schedule will still be available to anyone who wants them.” Unless they are being very transparent, the text should read: “Ensures that VACCINES for all the diseases covered by the previous immunization schedule will still be available to anyone who wants them.”

My friends have pointed out what is simultaneously the funniest and LEAST funny typo of the year: With the updated vaccine schedule, HHS is definitely ensuring that these diseases will be available to whomever wants them. (From www.hhs.gov/press-room/f...)

If you're looking to max out your charitable contributions for 2025, you have a few hours left to donate to the CDC Mutual Aid Fund. 😀 We're at 86% of our 2025 end-of-year goal! ($215,000 of $250,000)

I can’t stand anybody who wants to tell me consumer-facing LLMs and/or genAI are good. You are trying to convince everyone that it’s actually better to use a knife with no handle. Your hand is bleeding as you tell me handleless knives are inevitable and we need to get used to them or fall behind.

US FDA sends warning letters to Walmart, Target for selling recalled baby formula The FDA said four major retailers continued to sell baby formula linked to a nationwide outbreak of bacterial illness in infants even after the products were recalled.

"At Walmart, recalled products were found in stores across 21 states.

In a letter to Target, the health regulator said officials in Arkansas found the company offering a $2 discount on the recalled formula from November 16 to November 22. Target had the formula in stores across 20 states."

On this Public Health Thank You Day, we're INCREDIBLY thankful for public health workers around the world - And of course, current and former CDC workers and CDC leaders. In many ways, our work and experience is needed now more than ever. We see you and we appreciate you!

Today we woke up to our public health allies telling the public that they can't trust CDC anymore
More than a little demoralizing
Because it's complicated
The actual scientists at CDC - the ones you should trust - are not in control of public-facing webpages
The conspiracy theorists are running the messaging
And yet, most of us scientists... are still doing good science
It's just not making it out

We're still supporting local health departments
We're still running our disease surveillance systems
We're still on call for emergencies 24/7
Despite intense staffing shortages from multiple waves of RIFs
And chronically being under-resourced
Those of us left are still working hard to keep everything going
We are proud of our mission
And we persist, goddammit

Yet
We can also say... read the CDC webpages with skepticism
Don't treat them as the gold standard. Corroborate the information with other trusted, independent sources.
Many are still fine, but even we don't know when the political appointees are going to change their content
And this is a painful thing for us to say
So we just ask that, if you read or say "Don't trust the CDC!"
You remember that we're here still trying to serve the nation, throw sand in the gears, and weather the storm

Vaccine Safety
MENU V
For Everyone
NOV. 19, 2025
KEY POINTS
• The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.
• Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.
• HHS has launched a comprehensive assessment of the causes of autism,
including investigations on plausible biologic mechanisms and potential causal links.

This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:

“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.

Furloughed feds pick up Seattle beach trash to keep serving the public Furloughed federal employees were out in the rain picking up cigarette butts, bottle caps, and other trash at Seattle’s Golden Gardens Park on Friday.

Here in Seattle, furloughed NOAA employees were out in the pouring rain cleaning up beaches yesterday, part of a national week of service organized by federal workers who can't do their jobs due to the shutdown.

NEW: @CDCgov hit hard by massive firings that several staff describe to me as a “bloodbath.”
Among those RIFd:
—leadership of the center for immunization and respiratory diseases;
—leadership of global health center
—leadership of the measles outbreak response; 1/4

Good night, friends.
Tonight was deeply painful.

We at CDC do this work because we care.
It’s long hours, often feeling overworked and not enough pay, but we do it because we want to make the world a better place.

Usually, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices uses the GRADE system to assign a body of evidence as high, moderate, low, or very low quality.

Now, however, they appear to be using a different system as outlined in this figure.

A JAMA viewpoint article titled 'The Measles Resurgence' by Jane R. Zucker. It includes a table with reported vaccine-preventable disease cases and deaths in New York City for 1923 and 2023.

💬 Viewpoint: The resurgence of #measles and erosion of immunization policy, coupled with declining vaccination rates and undermined public health agencies, threaten to return the US to an era of frequent, preventable disease outbreaks.

The American public needs to understand that high-level HHS officials are shamelessly lying to us all.

Tylenol does not cause autism, and Makary, Bhattacharya, and Oz knew this as they stood there next to Trump as he said it did, nodding like bobbleheads.
