Boy I'd sure love some real traffic calming, but also just narrowing the road with proper bike lanes on here would truly make such a difference.
Carefully curating where to push the snow off hard surfaces and on to trees and garden beds to maximize the water absorbed by the roots that I expect will be very thirsty further into the summer.
Does the bike storage have a deck for a roof?
Wish people understood that density makes neighbourhoods more interesting & vibrant. To be sure there needs to be infrastructure to meet demand (parks, transit, schools, community centre capacity-rinks & pools, healthcare, shopping etc) but more neighbours is more allies, maybe even more friends!
Observation from the Calgary budget survey. Seems weird to lump roads with pathways. Could they really not afford one more category in the survey?
I want more pathways and protected lanes for biking. I don't really want any more roads or projects that are meant to "improve car traffic"

A bit of history from the former councillor for the area. The Sunnyside residents lobbied FOR DECADES to slow traffic on 2nd Ave as the road was extra wide because of the long retired streetcar and drivers would speed through the school zone. March confidently past the naysayers, Sunnyside!
Wish drought ridden Alberta was doing that.
I would like to remind the adult man who said he rides his bike several times a week but says the bike lanes are unnecessary about the existence of children. globalnews.ca/news/1179961...
A small weathered old garage with a mural of a steam liner with two funnels named RYAN plying the waters of some rocky coast beneath puffy clouds in a blue sky all contained in a scrollwork frame.
I mentioned the #yyc Sunnyside garage murals yesterday so here's a small selection:

Every extra centimeter of hood height is another blind spot.
This isn’t an accident. It’s a design choice.
Stop manufacturing, selling, and buying these machines.

I don’t think people know you can drive around with an extension cord that can attach your car to any wall outlet and wait for a charge. Its easier to find a working outlet then it is to find gasoline. It may take a while to charge but you won’t be stranded.
I was told yesterday that a big fear about getting an EV is not being able to find a charging station. But you could also run out of gas…
I need to expand my vocabulary.
Okay I tried to google it but I’m hoping you can ad the best link or give a quick explanation.
This vote shocked me. I assumed that if it didn’t affect his ward he would vote for the betterment of all calgarians. This was a big disappointment.
I feel that we need to be really clear in our words and beat the drum that public street parking can’t be saved by mandating the private market to absorb car size storage lockers. The only thing that will improve street parking is changing for it at a market price.
This just makes us look like geniuses in Edmonton since, thankfully, our council didn't cave and kept blanket infill intact. I wouldn't be shocked if Edmonton surpasses Calgary in population now just due to the affordable housing all that infill will allow for here. Easy sell compared to Calgary.
I expect this council will start approving all tall towers that come thier way…
My Detroit-based friends and colleagues are celebrating that their city’s first woman mayor has announced that, starting tomorrow, students under 19 with valid school ID can ride Detroit city buses free, seven days a week, year-round. A big step forward for the Motor City.
I ❤️ Detroit.
Fair. Where it is wider in the city HOV should be the first step.
#yyccc Access to public street parking can’t be improved by having government enforce the amount of car sized storage units the housing market must absorb on private land.
Rail is expensive to build. Let’s start with high occupancy vehicle HOV lanes. That is just paint and enforcement and move to Bus Rapid Transit BRT systems which is a dedicated bus lane once that is at capacity build a train. Small steps are easy to start with now.
For 15 years, Canadians have overwhelmingly purchased large SUV’s and pickup trucks knowing the price of gas will always increase and be volatile.
Maybe instead of subsiding that, we invest in public transit so people have the option to not drive everywhere for everything.
If you are hoping to talk at council today on quilted zoning, today is your day. Not a lot of people in chambers or on line. Wasn’t sure they would fill that last Panal.
Can we please rename blanket zoning QUILTED zoning! Because it allows for diverse housing types.
Panal 111 first. Then in numerical order till Panal 113 the last Panal. Then back to Panal 1.
In a province that seems to always be in drought or on the verge of drought I am shocked more people are not trying to get as much snow on to their property as possible.
This maybe explains why I enjoyed walking around Seoul more then Tokyo. Tokyo had cute but loud cars. Seoul was silent and people orented. I don’t even remember the cars. Seriously if you are ever planning a vacation and have a choice, choose Seoul you will enjoy the pedestrian realm much more.
