A crazily unconstitutional effort to seize control of elections from states by seeking to have the USPS put in place rules to ban the transmission of mail-in ballots that don't form to standards the Trump admin puts into place and for people the Trump admin hasn't verified as a citizen.

NEW: Thomson Reuters, the media company which is also a data broker, has long provided personal data for ICE tools, according to documents obtained by 404 Media and sources. There are also indications its data is now part of the Palantir system ICE uses to find which neighborhoods to target.

A bunch of legal podcasts and analyses will be discussing today's SCOTUS decision with lawyers who are neither queer nor trans, so if you want to talk to an attorney who (1) is actually trans, and (2) experienced conversion therapy, hit me up.

Leading NYC Jewish groups raise ‘deep concerns’ over Mamdani’s latest extremist associations UJA-Federation of New York called Mamdani’s recent gatherings with Mahmoud Khalil and Abdullah Akl a betrayal to his pledge to battle antisemitism

We need to stop accepting that these are "leading Jewish groups." They are not democratically accountable to the majority of American Jews, and I suspect the majority of NYC Jews do not care if Mamdani shares iftar with Mahmoud Khalil. I certainly do not! jewishinsider.com/2026/03/mamd...

Devastating reporting. Like RFK Jr., Kristi Noem, and Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth is reshaping his department to indiscriminately kill tons and tons of children.

A major throughline of the Trump administration.

Text from the book: "The photograph, while emblematic of worker heroism of the 1970s, also asks us to consider: Who made him that sweater so that he could wear it in front of a watching world, as Bolivia made itself revolutionary once again? How many hours were spent preparing this gift that would keep its bearer warm in the chill of May in the altiplano? Whose wool, from whose llamas or sheep, was knit in whose company housing in order to help this worker celebrate the workers' festival alongside his comrades? Under lamplight provided by which mining company generator or pulpería-bought kerosine? Although the subject is a portrait of revolutionary masculinity, this photograph makes visible the indispensable communities and networks that sustained worker politics and revolutionary vushone across the twentieth century, whether or not the people who made them possible marched with the union.

A Bolivian labor activist sits astride a motorcycle in front of May Day Marchers in 1971. He wears sunglasses, a fantastic wool sweater that reads Bolivia Saluda Mundo and a miner's helmet.

Today my book (The Limits of Revolution: Worker Citizens in a Bolivian Mining City) comes out from the @utexaspress.bsky.social, so I thought I'd share a little snippet from my conclusion that I am very proud of.

There is no special category of “junk food” that is responsible for everybody’s weight.

“TV ads” are something many, many people hardly ever see anymore.

Addressing problems in the corporate food industry is a great idea. But “they make cookies seem delicious!” is not the main issue.

An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.

Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.

This is pure cruelty.

My abuelo went to NYC from Cuba during WWII and he worked as a snow shoveler for years before saving enough money to go back to Cuba so he could really start his life. Till his very last day - and I am not kidding - he carried his NYC snow shoveler ID in his wallet with pride.

Respect is long due.

The Epstein files document what many women researchers have long experienced but rarely seen laid bare so starkly: exclusion operating behind closed doors, shaping who gets funded, invited, mentored, and taken seriously. How many of these networks, norms, and gatekeepers remain in place?

I struggle to articulate why the dehumanizing speech AI systems I study are a dangerous threat, because it is SO clear to me that they are made by people who hate human beings. I can’t understand why I have to keep explaining that when this dude is out here saying these things every single day.
