I have used actual hours of my limited human life plotting a comic book sequel to Last Action Hero and it is AMAZING
This is a great thread. As a mom of two autistic kids, I get a lot of questions from NT people trying to understand the autism experience. I try to direct them to speak to people who are actually on the spectrum so they can understand exactly the kind of things Chloe shares here.
I really liked it, a lot more than I expected to. There’s a lot of Checkhov—Checkhov’s Steak, Checkhov’s Relaxing Playlist, etc
Documentary footage of me watching Thrash last night
“You just can’t take a joke…” “I’ve never heard him say that kind of stuff…” “He didn’t mean it like THAT…” “Well, he’s never said that to me…” “I haven’t actually seen him DO anything, so…”
I just watched this for the first time a few weeks ago! I’d really forgotten how Robert Altman Robert Altman is.
I see you!
Current Kdrama obsession is Mercy For None, aka the Korean John Wick miniseries
Oh sure, it’s soooooo cute…until you get his invoice 🤣

I also teach them something. That’s not in any of their textbooks: Harvey Weinstein and the #MeTop movement. And I tell them my own (relatively mild) #metoo story.
One class at a time…
The auteur theory absolutely has created a lot of monsters. And every performative nightmare “genius” breeds another half-dozen up and comers who emulate him.
If it’s any consolation, that’s exactly what I’m teaching my film classes.

You fool. You’ve played right into my slides.
Yeah, I’m with you on Sarris. My impression was that after almost a decade of people arguing about it, he was like, “okay, how can we make this term make sense?”
I blame Truffaut, and especially Truffaut’s relentless doubling down.
After much consideration, I’m changing my subtitle. Now it’s “Auteur Theory: When Film Critics Tried to Make Fetch Happen”
Tomorrow’s World Cinema lecture is titled “Auteur Theory and Why It’s Bullshit”
Creators, reply with your current favorite craft book and let’s get a little thread going
Were the people at fiction fest all very young?
Is it REALLY
That was the whole reason I wanted to visit the UK.
Even if that’s an accurate sample, I don’t think abandoning the Bluesky project is the answer. It feels like everyone is jumping around platforms waiting for one to bc the new Twitter, and that’s like expecting CSPAN to turn into 90s-era NBC Must See TV.

Soup, as a concept, is a scam. It’s just wet food.
Tough luck, I’m giving you congratulations anyway and you can’t stop me.
You’re wonderful and that’s that.
Just a friendly reminder that The Forgotten Divine is coming soon to Kickstarter. The first two pages are on the KS. Feel free to check them out and see if this is the sort of thing you'd like to back. Thank you, that is all.
