George Orwell's 1984 is a masterpiece of literature that shines the light on totalitarianism.

It often appears that those who seek power and riches the most are the most corruptible. Once the taste of absolute power is experienced it will not be easily relinquished hence a dictator is born.

These cruel benefit cuts will rob security from so many – but Labour will lose something crucial too | Frances Ryan The worst reforms since George Osborne will teach voters that politicians really are all the same. Is it worth it? asks Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

“This is austerity dressed up as reform, where the government cuts the money disabled people need to live on in order to balance the books, while claiming it’s all being done to help them”

Labour just voted to kneecap the heath and care sectors.

Been a very bad week so far, and it's only Wednesday!

Most cost effective & quickest way to get dental care back on track:

Build a dozen dental training hospitals around the country. Train dental students for free. They must then sign a fixed term contract to the NHS for 10yrs before going private. Then they can work treating the backlog

Wise man in a sweater in his home library 📚 contemplating:

I don't know what word in the English language --I can't find one-- applies to people who are willing to sacrifice the literal existence of organized human life so they can put a few more dollars into highly stuffed pockets.

The word 'evil' doesn't even begin to approach it.

~Noam Chomsky

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

“For my next attention seeking trick, I will have you concentrate on Greenland, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Panama Canal—instead of my absurdly unqualified cabinet picks or that I have no real plans to fix the border or bring down food prices. Look, America, a rabbit!”

There going to be busy dismantling our democracy while we are distracted by misinformation

Finland are teaching their school children how to to identify fake news as part of developing critical thinking skills

We need to be more like Finland

Rather than deranged libellous rants @BBCNews are reporting Musk's unfounded accusations as "scathing criticism" ... which rather implies there's some merit to these unhinged allegations.

The BBC are now actively helping Musk to undermine UK democracy.

UK patients unable to get dental care after ‘eye-watering’ rise in private fees Exclusive: warning that lack of NHS dentists and soaring cost of private work puts essential care out of reach for many

Privatisation of healthcare.

UK patients unable to get dental care after ‘eye-watering’ rise in private fees.

Whose land? Tax avoidance and the broken economics of British farming Noise in the billionaire press about inheritance tax changes hides a basic fact: the non-farming rich own too much land

“James Dyson owns 36,000 acres of agricultural land, estimated to be worth in excess of £550mn…Prior to Reeves’ new tax regulations there would have been no tax to pay if he had died and passed the land on to his successors”

Human rights are universal - if we start stripping away basic human rights from any section of society then none of us has rights – just privileges that can be taken away by people in power whenever they want. Would we really want to take that path?

Some things not to comment on this Christmas:

- someone’s weight
- someone’s size
- how much they are eating
- how little they are eating
- the speed they are eating
- the type of foods they are eating
- the times they are eating
- your post Christmas diet
- how fat you feel
