あけましておめでとう!!! Although the lunar new year isn’t until February 17th, when we lived in Japan, they also celebrated the change in the zodiac on New Year’s Day.
Thinking of the amazing performers of Gendo Taiko and all the other students of Brown University and RISD. Hoping they are safe. So sorry to hear about the people who were killed or injured yesterday.
Thankful for the support of all who have donated their time, efforts, and funds to make this a wonderful first year as JASNE! We are grateful for the support of the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston, the Embassy of Japan in the USA, Japan Foundation, New York, and southern New England community!
This program was also supported by a grant from the National Association of Japan-America Societies, Inc., with the support of the Embassy of Japan in the USA
It was a wonderful day. Thanks to our conference co-chairs and their team of volunteers who made this happen and to the National Association of Japan-America Societies who provided the grant with funding from the Embassy of Japan.
…improve the understanding of people in the New England region about Japan, Japanese culture, and New England’s importance in the history of US-Japan relations. We got to know each other, what each of us are doing, learned how we can support and promote each other, and where we can work together.
We held an amazing gathering of thirteen New England Japan-focused Nonprofits along with the Consul General of Japan in Boston, two national organizations, educators, and businesses who are united in our desire to improve the US-Japan relationship.
Thanks also to Japan Foundation, New York for providing the financial support to make this happen and to the City of Newport RI for working closely with us through their Sister City Commission!!!
We want to especially thank our Festival Director, Everett Hoag! He did an amazing job coming up with the vision for the event, preparing tirelessly, and executing the day perfectly. If you need a superb event coordinator or are looking for exquisite costumes/hats, please go to everetthoag.com !!!
Thanks to all who came out to our first annual Japan-America Friendship Festival. It was a tremendous success thanks to our volunteers, our performers (Gendo Taiko, ShinDaiko, Suiō-ryū Iai Kenpō of Rhode Island, and Okaze), and our vendors (particularly Yagi Noodles)!
