“The past was alterable. The past never had been altered. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.”

Paulino is described by his husband as an “American Republican Patriot” after stealing $300K in public money. Hillsdale is the same department that contracted with ICE and then showed up at a school outside their jurisdiction to try to arrest children.

“In his own letter to the court seeking leniency, Zamudio said Paulino was a Christian and the couple are both ‘American Republican Patriots.’”

I trust you did well in the Sun Chamber to get that job

Probably she should've stuck around to hear the end of "A fool and their money..."

Hmm maybe shouldn't have blown all that money we gave you last year on jets and fleets of unusable vehicles. Manage your money, bootstraps, etc. etc.

Your question doesn’t make sense, it just seems like you were flailing to try to find a way to be correct about something.

You’re welcome to buy a stylebook yourself; the UK/US spelling thing was your thing in this thread, not mine. I just accurately corrected you on quotations in headlines.

Do I? I’m not crashing out over being wrong about quotation usage in headlines.

"Might?" I don't recall any instances of the U.S. using violence to force our spelling standards on other countries (despite our long, terrible history of violence and colonialism), but I'm happy to be educated further.

What's a tall order? The spelling is already defined.

There's countless more substantive things to criticize about the U.S. than spelling differences, especially when they're not distracting from the international alignment on how quotation marks are used in English-language headlines.

Professional editor of what?
I'm not sure why you're resorting to insults. I accurately answered your question about their use of single quotations in the headline, and then accurately pointed out that style is also used internationally.

That's true, but nothing I've posted about quotations and headlines would be outside of common knowledge for a professional journalist.
