Update on my mini capybara bungalow project. I added lighting, tiles, and some greenery, working my way forward. It’s looking pretty rough right now, but I’m trusting the process. #miniatures #roombox #miniatureartist

Huge thanks to @katsilvaauthor.bsky.social for the thoughtful, insightful developmental edit on my short story. Kat’s feedback and suggestions were so helpful in getting me unstuck. If you’re looking for an editor, definitely reach out to her!
Our next story begs the following question: If you woke up to find a strange entity in your house that asked you if you believed in miracles, what would you say?

I do as much research as I can. Sometimes I spend too much time going down rabbit holes, and after all that only a tiny percentage actually ends up in the story.

I’ve written nonfiction, thrillers, romance. I wrote an Indiana Jones-style adventure (it’s shelved right now but I’ve thought of maybe reworking it). I journal everyday.

Hi #HorrorWritersChat ! I write horror and sci-fi horror.
This week I watched Thrash 🦈 on Netflix (it was silly but fun) and I’m currently reading GIRL DINNER by Olivie Blake. I’m enjoying it so far.
The secret movie at my theater tonight was Normal. I knew nothing about this film going in, and it was so fun! Everyone in the theater was reacting to the wild twists and chaos. This is what I love about going to the movies! 🎥
We're going to be there slinging books! Looking at the other vendors and folks who are going to be there and it looking to be a great time. If you're in the area, stop on by!
A monster terrorized her family when she was a child.
Years later...it's come back.
This time it's after her son.
PALMETTO BOY is out!

I made a bunch of tiny PALMETTO BOY books to celebrate my book’s release and I’m giving 15 away to anybody who wants one.

I recently started back with my writing group after a long hiatus. I missed hanging out with other writers, reading their work, and learning from them. I always leave meetings inspired and energized, and feeling not so alone as a writer.
#HorrorWritersChat
The techniques I use the most are sensory details, setting, and my character’s internal dialogue.

There is usually overlap in my favorite stories, like The Babadook movie, and Whalefall by Daniel Kraus. I just saw Project Hail Mary last night and the isolation the main character felt physically and mentally was so intense.
#HorrorWritersChat
Hi everyone, I write horror and dark sci-fi.
COLD ETERNITY by S. A. Barnes is one of my favorite books that features isolation. It’s about a woman who takes a job as a custodian on a cryo ship. It’s so creepy.

There isn't much to say that hasn't been said before, but know that we stand against this administration and their daily atrocities. We support peace, science, diversity, equity, and human rights. We will continue to do our best to uplift marginalized voices and support the community as we can.
Who would like a tiny PALMETTO BOY book?
I'll 🐌 mail a mini book to the first 15 people who like or comment. They're handmade and you can't open or read them, but they are very cute. 📚 I'll DM winners April 12th. U.S. addresses please.

A progress pic of the “bungalows” I’m making to display the miniature capybara figurines a friend gave me.
I’m almost done painting trim and designs, and then I can move on to lighting, flooring, plants 🪴 and disco ball 🪩 The vision is coming together!

I loved the questions this week, Gree. Thank you!
This week I’m sharing the amazing book trailer my son, Henry, made for PALMETTO BOY. He’s a recent Cinema Arts grad and aspiring screenwriter and director!

I stare at my exposed ulna bone. They want me to fashion a key out of it. Using my teeth, watching myself as if from a distance and numb to the pain, I gnaw the end to a lethal jagged point, open the lock, and fight my way out.

I think imprisonment is a primal fear. Being trapped, helpless, lost in the dark, or completely dependent on, or at the mercy of someone, who might not have your best interests in mind, with no way out, is so scary. And then you have your mind racing in dark places.
