So, if we're at the start of the string, "(?>^|A)" only matches like "^"; otherwise, it matches like "A" (ish).
It's only really meant for optimization, for certain shapes of pattern that could otherwise make PCRE's backtracking algorithm take exponential time - I'm being a bit cheeky with it here.

Ah, do you mean the "(?>…)"? That's not a lookahead (those are "(?=…)" or "(?!…)"), it's a weird little PCRE-specific thing called an "atomic group" - means "once you've found one way to match this part at a particular point in the matching process, don't try to match it any other way there":
ah but you *can* ignore those sidequests & do them after you've been Silverhanded, so that still counts 😏
more seriously - I've looked up a list now, I was thanking of the main quests: *those* aren't named after songs until that point
I think that pattern only starts after you get Jonny in your head? might be why you didn't notice earlier
(I figure the idea is it's his doing somehow)
I sensed some Apocalypse Now in there too
military commander went rogue & set up his own fiefdom, now you gotta go in there & spoil his party, etc

the trouble with "trump is doing this stupid thing to distract from that evil thing he's doing!" is that he's always doing stupid things and always doing evil things, so both happening at once doesn't actually tell you anything

this one's fun, I like how the different rules interact :)
I'm detecting a fondness for thrillers, especially if there's scifi or supernatural elements - have you seen any of...?
• Intacto (2001)
• Dark City (1998)
• Open Your Eyes (1997)
• Cypher (2002)
• The Thirteenth Floor (1999)
• Moon (2009)
(in case of "no" to any, I recommend them all!)

yeah I've always thought it was that one myself - it just suddenly struck me that the other would also work, and that I don't think I've ever heard it spoken aloud by an authoritative source, so I must have just assumed at some point...
"skippy" does have a certain... whimsical charm? going for it
is SciPy pronounced like "sigh pie", or "skippy"?
