Particularly when the extent of the complaints, and the numbers of drivers speaking out, far exceeds any other recent era.

So you don't think drivers saying how terrible it is every week isn't problematic to the sport in any way at all? I disagree. If the people we're watching the sport for are telling us how bad it is, I think it's highly dangerous to dismiss that as 'well they've always complained'.

Complaints before, sure. But not to the extent that it's almost universally negative. It's not just Max now is it? Norris said they're the worst cars ever. Bearman, Gasly, and Ocon were all very outspoken after the race too. Only George and Lewis had anything positive to say.

'With my brain shut off' - this is the crux of the problem. It's racing for the lowest common denominator. 'Look, cars going past each other! Isn't that great?! Who cares if it means absolutely nothing, takes zero skill and drivers hate it?!'

When pretty much all the drivers are saying how artificial/frustrating it is, surely that should be taken into account, though? Who's going to watch a sport if the majority of the athletes actually doing it say 'nah, this sucks'?

The one thing I'll never understand is this popular notion that sports athletes/celebrities/whoever must share the exact same political opinion as you, or else it makes them A Bad Person.

It's crazy how many people still believe the only correct opinion on anything is their own.

Aston Martin? More like Ass-Ton Martin amiright? #totallyoriginaljokes.

If I was Fernando Alonso, I think I'd be this 🀏 close to firebombing the entire Honda factory at this point.

Edging has multiple meanings, but I think we're all grown up enough to be able to tell the difference in context without having to stop using that word...

A Robin stands on vibrant green moss, its head tilted dramatically to one side, wide-eyed and curious. Its bright orange chest seems to puff out slightly as if mid-protest, while its gaze meets the viewer with an adorably pleading look. The pose perfectly captures the mood of someone reluctantly facing the return to work after a cosy winter break - with a hint of stubborn charm.

I mean, how many of these 'spectacles' do people have to see before realising that every time, without fail, they are utterly, irrefutably, completely shit? And much longer before people start watching an actual proper sporting contest instead?

Greatest mystery of 2025...why anyone in their right mind would voluntarily waste their own time and money to watch Joshua vs Paul.

You know the worst person you've ever met, who has the worst opinions on anything you've ever heard? They probably still use Twitter.

Accidentally logged onto the site formerly known as twitter dot com. Eww, gross. What a toilet bowl that is.

It's not about being macho at all. It'd just be nice to see some fight or passion about being this close to winning the World Championship (something millions dream of, and that very few ever get to do) actually *means* something to them.

How can fans be expected to be invested when the drivers don't appear to be, though? Norris comes across someone who knows sweet FA about the history of the sport, and Piastri is so laid back to the point you think he probably won't care if he doesn't win it, either.

Yes, I dislike Norris that much that I have reverted to my teenager-posting-on-F1-forums days.

Lando Norris may well win the championship now (ew), but happily it'll be with the knowledge that Max Verstappen has easily been the best driver this season, and is clearly the superior driver in every single way. #f1 #braziliangp #saopaulogp

Earlier in the year, I was all for a new F1 champion this season. But because of McLaren doing McLaren things, I so want Verstappen to win again. And it'll be one of the funniest things that's ever happened in F1, on par with 2007.

Once again, well done to everyone who blindly voted for this shambles of a government at the last election solely on the basis that 'they're not the Tories'.

It's going so well, isn't it?

The government are wrong to think places and nature don’t matter to the public. ❌

All evidence shows the opposite.

Weakening protections for our National Parks would be a devastating step backwards for nature, and for the landscapes millions love.

Comparing a guy who voiced political opinions you disagreed with to someone responsible for the deaths of six milllion Jews is nowhere close to the same thing. This kind of discourse is the problem.

Genuinely, this is part of the reason I rarely ever discuss politics publicly anymore. Because the rhetoric has been so vile and divisive on both sides of the political spectrum for so long.

Had never heard of Charlie Kirk to a couple of days ago. Still don't know much about him now. Maybe he *was* a bad person with bad views. But celebrating his death doesn't make you a good person either. It just makes you a bit of a cunt.

It is genuinely wild to me to see people on social media celebrating the death of somebody, just because they disagreed with his politics.
