I am fortunate that my home sits next to a deer path as mom’s leave their babies in my yard frequently. When I have an orphaned baby I have to find a rehabber to rescue it. The baby I had last nite died as I couldn’t get a rehabber fast enough. Needless to say I have been a wreck ever since.

I don’t know how to explain to you that the lives of refugees matter as much as those of citizens. You’re supposed to have learned that as a child.

This protest was peaceful. The escalation didn’t come from the crowd, it came from law enforcement. People gathered on public property to speak out against an unjust detention. They were met with armored vehicles, riot gear, and chemical agents. It was excessive. It was avoidable.

The cruelty in today's politics feels horribly corrosive. Bringing up that hard-working immigrant families — undocumented, yes, but not violent criminals — are being ripped apart based on immigration status doesn't bring compassion or even pause, but gleeful cheers.

This roundup by ice could really impact the entire country.
