Interesting thread. The ideas that technology and medicine will fix everything and that the future presence of disability is unrealistic, is laughable to me. I'm not surprised by these thoughts, but they feel very yesteryear. I would be enthusiastically annoyed if someone made those comments.

...and people WILL die. Disabled people will die. Old people will die. Members of minority communities will die. Support systems will die because of lack of funding. All this is happening needlessly, with abhorrent greed at the center. I wish people would vote with their future selves in mind.

This is infuriating and horrifying. They do not understand or they do not care about the language that they are using and how they are devaluing the lives of disabled people. We are not a problem. Our experiences are part of the human experience. This yesteryear perspective is dangerous.
