We’ve just started watching Last One Laughing on Amazon Prime, which basically features almost the entire A-list of current British comedians. And it’s hilarious. If the BBC had commissioned even a handful of them to write and perform on the show, it would have been infinitely better.

NYC Mayor Wants to Ban Masks in the Wake of Shooting Death of CEO Brian Thompson A look at how the shooting death of Brian Thompson is being used to re-ignite interest in banning masks in New York City - a move which would be a devastating blow to the disabled community.

This isn’t the first time New York has tried to ban masks. Both Hochul and Mayor Adams have previously said they want to ban masks, with Adams using Luigi Mangione as an excuse to push for them a few months ago.

Mask bans don’t stop crime. They just stop people from safely accessing public spaces:

Haven’t significantly improved? It’s far more bleak these days. Thatcherism didn’t die with Thatcher. It’s just gained momentum.

Look after the poorest & most vulnerable in your society & country.

Those that can look after themselves will do so.

Those 1% that are wealthier than all of the rest of us, if they live in this country, should WANT the best for it, right?

Why is this controversial?

Once again, getting infected with multiple pathogens does not help your innate immune system, it harms it.

The small potential benefit of an adaptive immune response to a specific pathogen is not worth the risk of an infection.

Something interesting you might not have realized: a number of words in English are nouns when you stress the first syllable but verbs when you stress the second.

I heard RFK Jr. is floating the banning of the polio vaccine so seems like a good time to remind folks that RFK Jr. was vaccinated with this same vaccine & therefore is at no risk of harm himself

Kinda like when he publicly was against the covid vaccine yet privately required his guests to have it🙃

Majority of Brexit voters ‘would accept free movement’ to access single market Europe-wide polling finds UK and EU leaders now out of step with public opinion and pursue ‘ambitious reset’

“While some Conservative and Reform politicians suggest UK should lean politically towards a Trump presidency at the expense of Europe, this did not seem to be a view shared by many voters”

“Will of the people”, lads. Remember?
We’re all sick of your Brexit mess.

1. For obvious reasons, there is currently a considerable amount of discussion regarding the efficacy of lockdowns as public health measures. It's very important to be mindful of a few points regarding this media discourse.

Bizarre thing happened to me yesterday that my teenage self would not believe. I was playing at the gig to celebrate the life of the genius that was Neil Innes. Whilst waiting backstage to go on, Michael Palin sang the lumberjack song to me, in German.

Petition: Commission a public inquiry into the impact of the UK exiting the European Union Given that it has stated its aim of growing the UK economy, we think the Government needs to quantify the effects of exiting the European Union as soon as possible by setting up an inquiry.

Convincing folk to sign petitions is sometimes hard work, especially when the prize is not always obvious

The prize, in this instance, is a way back to rejoining

I implore you to sign

Robust antiviral humoral immunity induced by JN.1 monovalent mRNA vaccines against a broad range of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariants including JN.1, KP.3.1.1 and XEC As of November 2024, SARS-CoV-2 Omicron JN.1 subvariants, such as KP.2 (JN.1.11.1.2), KP.3 (JN.1.11.1.3), KP.3.1.1 (JN.1.11.1.3.1.1), and XEC, a recombinant lineage between KS.1.1 (JN.13.1.1.1) and KP...

Super interesting- be good to see this in a larger study. Compared antibody responses of infection and mrna vaccines. The JN.1 vaccine more robustly induced antibodies against recent JN.1 subvariants than natural infection of JN.1 subvariants 🧵🧪 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I rarely challenge the decisions of JCVI but I really struggle to see the logic of stopping the antenatal vaccine offer with Autumn COVID 💉 campaign.

There is good evidence of protection against infection from maternally derived vaccine-induced antibodies in the first 6 months of an infant’s life.
