Tags don't make it to BlueSky when the post exceeds the character limit. There's no elegant answer, but I think the body text should get truncated to add the tags pretty much no matter what. There's always a link to the full text.
A pox upon #BlueSky for having a #CharacterLimit.

Images didn't federate to BlueSky at all, but the handling of a long text post is sane.
Lem. I haven't done serious work with it yet, but I HAVE it. For serious work, I use Emacs.

Screenshot of a conversation with an Amazon chatbot: User: will this work for kaishaku? Bot The cold Steel Gold Lion Katana is a traditionally styled Japanese sword, which could potentially be used for kaishaku, the act of beheading a person who has committed seppuku. However, the product information does not provide specific details about its suitability for this purpose.
I don't think I like this feature because a verification doesn't have a concrete meaning. I think leaning in to account labels would be a better solution because labels can say something specific. A way for an account to feature a label or three as badges next to usernames seems better.
I don't think I like the new @bsky.app #verification feature. #labelers already provide a way for any entity to make assertions about an account and I'd like to see BlueSky lean into that rather than imitating Twitter.
Kids these days aren't as resilient as they used to be because they don't have gasoline-powered pogo sticks anymore.

Google just sent me an email, in German, though everything I've told Google about myself says I want things in English, saying that my Pixel 4A would soon be updated to Android 13. That doesn't sound like an update to me.

It's easy to collapse long posts in feeds for UX reasons while still allowing posts to be at least tens of thousands of characters. At some point there's a denial of service risk.
ActivityPub allows very long posts, and Mastodon, the most popular implementation collapses them.
Thanks for the response. That's unfortunate if accurate. ATProto has lots of moving parts and it's not obvious what's done where as a beginner.
Let's see if shouting into the void works here. If I self-host a PDS, can I change the character limit, or is that set elsewhere? #atproto
