Ooof, sorry to hear you had trouble with this. I think it should work with node 20.19 and above. I’ll make a note in the Readme at least. Not sure if there’s anything else I can do, but suggestions welcome!

@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social I think it was Chris who mentioned Mox Boarding House in Portland on the podcast a while back. My company is meeting in Portland for our yearly get-together, and I suggested we check out Mox. So we'll be hanging out there for a few hours! I'm looking forward to it.

I wonder if it's just done by pre-bundling everything though. I've come to think of that largely as an anti-pattern, because it means I can't deduplicate dependencies or patch them in my node_modules with pnpm patch.

Yep, we are.

Ah, thanks! I just had to scroll back a ways to find it.

I logged into X for the first time in months today (I had a good reason), and it was awful. So glad I don't hang out there anymore, y'all made the right choice to move.

@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Am I just imagining it, or do you have a map set up where listeners can pin themselves to find other nearby listeners? I thought that was your podcast, but maybe it was another. I can't find it anywhere.

@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Hey I just noticed you've still got a twitter link on your contact page of your website. (But the twitter account it links to is deleted)

@brianmc.bsky.social You might appreciate this. bsky.app/profile/mich.... I feel like you've done a few "Doom running on <x>" stories in the past.

All told, it's been a year and a half of hard work to get to today. We've got so much to share about this project. Let us know what you'd like to hear about! :)

Ugh, the last few times I've logged into BrowserStack, I want to immediately log back out in a rage because I can't skip these dumb questions. I don't even know what they're talking about.

That's great! Aside from car repairs, I think my biggest win was about 5 years ago when my company was throwing away a 4k TV that wouldn't turn on. I took it home, replaced a board for $40, and it was good as new.

I love repairing things for a fraction of what they cost to replace. It's so satisfying and feels rebellious somehow.

As cars and trucks become more like computers, I'm convinced they're going to start becoming "obsolete" faster than they actually break down. It's the tech that will break first, not the hardware.

React v19 – React The library for web and native user interfaces

Does anyone else find it odd that React is recommending react-helment on its docs page (react.dev/blog/2024/12...). That project hasn't been maintained in 5 years.

Strange bug in the React docs: Visit react.dev/blog/2024/12..., click on the link "New React DOM Static APIs", then press back. Nothing happens. Usually. Sometimes it goes back to the top of the page, but usually not.

This is your periodic reminder that:

"AI" is artificial, but not currently intelligent
"hallucinations" are actually incorrect or misleading output (errors)
"AI" cannot "join the workforce" any more than a broken clock can

When we use their marketing terms we only help them perpetuate the scam.

a venn diagram. the left circle is “people who understand that climate change is an existential threat” and the right circle is “people who use Al, but, like, not for real work! lol! i just needed a silly pic of a dog on a scooter and it's surprisingly hard to find good reference images”

I paused the print and embedded a washer into each one. The trick is using a calipers and only getting washers that are the right thickness, since they vary pretty wildly. And also sizing the hole in the print such that they don't rattle around.

I designed and printed a set of upgraded tokens for Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game from @brotherwisegames.bsky.social. The game is all about burning metals to power your magic, so how could I _not_ make something a bit more metallic to use? I weighted them like poker chips. Such a fun game.

The long-running Cardboard Edison Award, which aims to highlight the best in currently unpublished board games, is revamping its judging process for 2025 after admitting a ‘blind spot’ over last year’s colonialism-themed winner:

Ah thanks, looks like they finally added that last month. I still think we have some compelling features, and much fewer fiddly options that you have to configure for a default-good experience.
