Be willing to “kill your darlings”

You are worthy. Never let anyones perceived prestige make you feel small. Many of us don’t enjoy the same privileges, and yet, have still achieved the same if not better results and success.
“Make it pop”
Can’t wait to dig in!
Personas vary in usefulness depending on the customer-centric nature of the business and evidence from research that was used to create them.
If nothing else, they help with storytelling, and protect/anonymize the identities of research participants while still conveying insights that matter.
From a UX pov, Personas should be a user research artifact resulting from actually talking to humans as part of a study.
Personas should really only include details that’s relevant to the desired experience or business goal (like having a dog or liking Thai food).
For every horrible design choice that is made in an app you use, think of me (and other designers), in a meeting going "no that's a horrible choice" and it happening anyways.
That's product design some days.
"What is the ROI of UX?" is shaped like a question, but it is actually two hostile premises:
1) that UX is sufficiently marginal for its value to be openly questioned
2) that the asker has the authority to judge this question, and practitioners are merely consulted on it, as a matter of courtesy
you’re right! it feels mostly awful to Go Online™, these days. the internet in a sad state, for reason after reason after reason. but there is a way to fix it; to trade the voidful howling for a quiet & joyful song.
here’s how to win the war for the soul of the internet, and build the Web We Want.
Just push directly to prod 🔥😂
One of few newsletters I actually look forward too and read. A MUST have for anyone working in product and technology.
2025 can honestly choke. Good riddance 😬
An era of Twitch I’ll never forget and glad to be a part of even in small ways. Your stream and the claw team support were a catalyst for me. Cant wait to follow the next chapter! ❤️
Too young to worry, too old to give a shit ✌🏽
It’s hard to stop the gears from turning even when you’re away from work. 🥲
I have been back and forth over the span of 5 years about whether to publish this article.
All opinions and experiences in this post are my own, or from people I personally know, backed up with recent reports and statistics.
I’m so glad you decided to publish this ❤️🔥 There are so many parallel’s to other marginalized groups and how I’ve felt about some of the performative nature.
In my experience these initiatives are great for establishing community and opening doors but maybe not the systemic impact that’s needed.

Because it’s the true final evolution 😹
Have you started a farm yet?
Built a new PC for some games 🤓
I agree it feels silly, but I mean, when you look at the (mostly short-term) incentives, is it really that unbelievable?
I’ve been there, and sometimes still am.
Every once in a while I have to remind myself “you are more than what you produce”.
Trains had WiFi in 1995? 🤭
Autonomy and influence >>> big fancy titles
I thought the same exact thing.
Maybe the business case is just hype and marketing noise, something to distract from floundering on Apple intelligence. “Look over there” kinda vibes.
Never too much, just enough 💅🏽
A very timely read for tech workers right now.
My favorite takeaway as it applies to cross-functional teams, especially for designers:
"in order to master your own domain, the boundaries of your specialism will often blur with specialists in other domains."
The parallels to fast fashion is spot on. Loved the POV beyond the tech bubble it brings from other industries.
Sometimes we forget how young tech is relative to other industries and the lessons that can be learned from others.
