flipping through a proof of yet another book from a somewhat well known liberal voice diagnosing “where the left went wrong” and i’m struck, again, by the fact that a large part (if not most) of the liberal commentariat simply does not believe that the political right has agency.

If this weren't so horrifying, the idea of the Palantir dweebs as the standard-bearers for a "culture producing vital advances" would be beyond fucking hilarious
Trump TS post featuring an illustration of himself as a Christian faith healer
I’m not sure it has broken through to the general public that the president is a megalomaniac crazy person. Hopefully posts like this help.
Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010
My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.
Trump "Truth": The alleged Statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows. The false Statement was linked to a Fake News site (from Nigeria) and, of course, immediately picked up by CNN, and blared out as a “legitimate” headline. The Official Statement by Iran was just released, and posted on TRUTH, below. Authorities are looking to determine whether or not a crime was committed on the issuance of the Fake CNN World Statement, or was it a sick rogue player? CNN is being ordered to immediately withdraw this Statement with full apologies for their, as usual, terrible “reporting.” Results of the investigation will be announced in the near future. President DONALD J. TRUMP
White House Rapid Response account: "ATTENTION @cnni : As @POTUS just said, Iran’s official statement is linked in his TRUTH below AND posted by the Iranian foreign minister. This alleged statement by “Iran” is a FRAUD! Correct immediately!" [Photo of CNN story citing "a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media."
Brendan Carr tweet: More outrageous conduct from CNN. Fake news is bad enough for the country, but pushing out a hoax headline in such a sensitive national security moment as this requires accountability. Iran put out an official statement that simply cannot be squared with the one CNN's false headline attributes to them. Time for change at CNN.
Iran's PressTV Twitter account: Supreme national security council: Iran achieved historic victory by forcing criminal US to accept its 10-point plan.
The President, White House, and FCC's Brendan Carr are calling for action -- and implying a criminal investigation -- against CNN for... accurately reporting what Iran's state media shared as a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
This morning, I asked President Trump if he’s okay with the Iranians charging a toll for all ships that go through the Strait of Hormuz, he told me there may be a Joint US-Iran venture to charge tolls: “We’re thinking of doing it as a joint venture. It’s a way of securing it — also securing it from lots of other people.” “It’s a beautiful thing”
Trump went from making genocidal threats against Iran to becoming business partners with Iran in 24 hours.
The guy is loonier than a shithouse rat.
The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
Sex tourism? Well, at least that will make his transition into being a conservative influencer go more smoothly.
really can't be said enough that this case was decided by the same court that decided plessy v. ferguson. if they could have found a plausible rationale to limit birthright citizenship they would have done it. but there is none! the text is as clear as constitutional language can be.
Dozens of people have been rescued from the burning wreckage of a Colombian air force plane that crashed just after take-off on the border with Peru. At least 34 people have been confirmed dead.
Good morning, Asia. While you were sleeping, our most-read story was about Tehran’s retaliation for an attack on its South Pars gasfield, which threatens major repercussions for global energy markets. ft.trib.al/TBma534
It is 100% true that great men and women of the past were not sitting around moaning about their feelings. I regret nothing.
It’s really funny that all of these guys would tell you with a straight face that they have read Meditations 1000 times
I think one thing we as a society need to improve upon is helping each other understand making financial choices based on a need to feel like you be more well-respected is just... bad.
Respect *yourself* enough to know what a good deal actually is and what actually needs to matter to you!

Because there *are* ways to make your life easier even among this bullshit system we've created.
But first you have to stop feeling pressure to perform for that system.
You have a lot more agency than you may know, but you need to look in places and make choices Your Average Consumer™ isn't.

NEW: A couple of 20-year-old developers make $500,000 a month promising to help men, including minors, to stop watching porn, but exposed their private porn watching habits.
When we asked them about it in January, they lied about the huge security flaw. Here's why we're naming them now:
New in PN: The bombing of Iranian children is an unforgivable crime
"American disinterest in the lives of people abroad is a resource politicians use to justify cynical wars. It's hard to see on what moral grounds we claim a right to decide the fate of those about whom we clearly care so little."
There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.
A DOJ source says FBI agents found the woman who accused Trump of sexually assaulting her as a child to be credible:
"They would not have interviewed her four times if they thought she was lying."
Correction. Orwell never said this. He did however, warn that: "political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.” (That's Politics and the English Language, one of my favorite essays)
The story that Elon Musk committed voter fraud has gotten next to no coverage -- one of those things you can't make come up on a Google search.
But I think it's time for Dems to go on offensive abt right wing coddling of this immigrant interfering in our elections.

Massie on Howard Lutnick: "He should just resign. Three people in Great Britain resigned for less than what we've seen Howard Lutnick lie about. He clearly went to the island, if we believe what's in these files. He was in business with Jeffrey Epstein."
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alberto Castañeda Mondragón says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance. But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain. He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friend’s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again. He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.
ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”
What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.
They deleted this when it turned out they read the poll wrong and it's 38% who said their finances are improving and 62% who said it's the same or they're worse off. 🙃
Remember when Elon Musk got mad at being disallowed from interfering with a rescue operation and called its head a "pedo guy" then excused the defamation as a euphemism? Turns out that it wasn't meant as an insult. It was an affirmation
