That sounds pretty close to my own experience, and is exactly what makes it so disappointing. Seeing friends getting hurt always makes me mad.
The entire Potter discussion makes me so sad & angry. The first queer community I became a part of (outside of my highschool friend group) was a Potterverse larp/cosplay group. She should have just leaned into the niche. But agreed, books written for adults are better though not always more complex.

Teile des NSDAP- Mitgleiderverzeichnisses (1927-1945) sind nun als Teil der beschlagnahmten Unterlagen digitalisiert online einsehbar. Aus Deutschland zurzeit nur mit VPN gut nutzbar, aber sehr nützlich. Danke, NARA!
