It is just not tenable for academia or for society as a whole for every professor at a state school in a red state to leave and finds a position in a blue state and every would-be state school student in a red state to leave and attend college in a blue state (with the out of state tuition!) instead
I feel like a lot of the "lol the hypocrisy" takes on this are missing the point that the aim isn't really ever to "retvrn to the classics", it's to destroy the university by making it untenable for professors to do their work in these conditions so they leave and that is unfortunately succeeding 🫤
The highlight of this week's meal plan has definitely been a spring confetti salad from Edible Perspective, which sadly is now defunct. Other recipes: celery root veloute, herb roasted chicken thighs, zhoug, shawarma spiced chicken thighs.
Beloved!!!
Almost done with my reread of The Spellcoats!

If companies collect all of this data on us, surely they can figure out that I would like to opt out of anything Mother's Day related for the rest of forever
I'm already getting Mother's Day ads and, truly, genuinely, I would like to kick someone or something

Two lily of the valley plants blooming in a shady garden.
A red and yellow columbine flower.
A row of multi-colored pansies blooming.
Friday flowers: spirea, lily of the valley & columbine have joined the chat; pansies are still going strong
I revisited this old post I wrote about rereading and yeah! I still stand by it! bysinginglight.wordpress.com/2016/04/11/t...
I made a cup of tea and I think it may have fixed me, at least temporarily.

A map of a cozy fantasy town.
A map of a contemporary small town.
A map of a fantasy world.
Happy #PortfolioDay! My name is Sarah, and I'm an illustrator specializing in maps. I work primarily with authors and publishers, and my maps span contemporary small towns to fantasy worlds.

There are so, so many justified critiques of Catholicism but "Popes shouldn't talk about theology because I want to bomb people without feeling bad about it" isn't one of them.
Note: this is very different from people who sincerely love a faith but struggle with authoritarian structures. I'm specifically talking about the people who join Catholicism & Orthodoxy because they think it's more pure and righteous and manly than other versions of Christianity.
Anyway, it's depressing to me how often I've seen this play out on the small stage. People who want the trappings of traditionalism until it means they might actually have to accept someone else's authority over them.
Especially if you are joining a global religion with major cultural differences from the one you grew up in!! (ie, hierarchal structures, a different understanding of Christianity & salvation)
