Statement from Commissioner Robbie Goldstein, MD, PhD, Regarding Care for Transgender Youth
Decisions about a young person's health are deeply personal and complex. They belong with patients, their families, and their trusted health care providers, who are best equipped to weigh individual needs, circumstances, and risks.
Government interference erodes trust in the health care system and places vulnerable young people at even greater risk of harm.
At this time, gender-affirming care remains legal and accessible in Massachusetts. Our responsibility — morally, ethically, medically, and legally — is to protect the health and wellbeing of every person who calls this state home.
That responsibility includes supporting transgender and nonbinary individuals and preserving access to medically necessary care without fear, stigma, or government interference.
Powerful statement from Dr. Robbie Goldstein, MD, PhD, Massachusetts Commissioner of Public Health on defending GAC:
“Our responsibility — morally, ethically, medically, and legally — is to protect the health and well-being of every person who calls this state home.”
