Baroness Casey, "Yes the politics behind this is unhelpful"

"I find it very hard because it was absolutely right that the Prime Minister Keir Starmer got a grip of this"

The biggest mistake made by the remain campaign was snobbery. Calling leave voters uneducated, stupid. This does not engage and makes the divisions deeper. Sometimes, it is better to try to work to reassure. There will be massive reforms to welfare to make it fairer. Patience is needed.

IMO, both Starmer's recognition that migration is part of Britain's national story, and the warning that without more control "we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together" does a pretty good job of capturing where most Brits are on immigration.

Lord Chancellor and MOJ Permanent Secretary Prison Capacity Press Conference The Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood MP and Amy Rees CB spoke in a briefing at Downing Street about the extent of the prison capacity crisis and plans to counter it.

The Justice Secretary has held a press conference today to explain the ongoing prison capacity crisis and the plans to counter.

Definitely go and have a read - this is one of the best things I have seen the government put out.

Top Tory caught admitting Brexit drawback in leaked clip In response on Wednesday night, the Tories insisted that Chris Philp was not saying the Tories did not have a plan for how to handle asylum seekers post Brexit.

They never had a plan.
They just lied and lied and lied.

Both Brexit and Immigration are the most dishonest and ruinous policies going. A Tory/Farage conspiracy of deceit that Labour seems to want to protect rather than challenge.

As for Chris Philp - get in the bin.

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride says the leaked recording of Chris Philp, of him admitting the UK can't return asylum seekers to Europe post-Brexit (despite promises made at the time), is just "blindingly obvious".

Well, yeah. But it wasn't made blindingly obvious to those who voted Leave, was it?

Even James O'brien is trying to put a negative spin on it.

On a normal day, I would expect @mrjamesob.bsky.social to be talking about Philps latest exposed tape....but no. He is now full on attacking Keir Starmer again. Since his aggressive refusal to defend his colleague Sanghita Myska it feels like he has been "got at". Yet again I sigh and switch over.

James is also well aware that Starmers huge drive to realign with the EU has been going on for several years, pretty much from the day we left. Behind closed doors true, but it has been happening.

I remember one time when Rayner and Starmer called in jointly. However, people's opinions should be challenged when they are not based on the truth. For example. Starmer has always used the legal definition when asked what is a woman. He has also always asked for compassion in the debate.

Had to switch off. James, you spend far too much time listening to opinions and not nearly enough listening to the government.

Parliament to be sitting tomorrow for an urgent statement from the government about British Steel.

That is because you are on Blue Sky. Twitter is an absolutely disgusting Farage, Lowe, Badenoch binfire of all brown people will rape your white daughters, all black people will stab your white sons, and all Muslims are terrorists. And it is all Keir Starmers' fault.

I yried to call in again but I have no hope of getting on. The points I make aren't discussed. @mrjamesob.bsky.social appears ti be more concerned about his listener numbers. I wish he was defending Jess Phillips rather than attacking St armer. Maybe the echo chamber of Blue Sky has got to him?

@mrjamesob.bsky.social How many times does Keir Starmer have to demonstrate he is realigning with the EU? What will happen to Ukraine if Starmer pisses off Trump? Gaza? It is diplomacy.

1 year ago 3 0 1 0

It is obvious a trade agreement with the US was never possible. But giving Trump the impression it was, was diplomatically essential.

Imagine if Starmer promised a new trade agreement and failed like Cameron did....you would slam him.

I am so bloody angry right now. Starmer has been rebuilding the relationship with the EU for years. Long before he became PM. Negotiations on the Brexit deal are due to start in May! Of course this is happening behind closed doors...

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

@mrjamesob.bsky.social You were criticising Keir Starmer for saying that nothing will be the same. Now, when MSM are saying the same thing, it is Starmer who is timid? Are you jumping on the Starmer bandwagon to protect your listener numbers?

1 year ago 2 0 1 0

@mrjamesob.bsky.social What the hell do you think Labour/Starmer has been doing.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

No. Sorry you took in the Corbyn entryists. Your policies are naive at best, and you are happy to lie about what is possible knowing you will never have to implement those lies.
