it's super easy to sit in the present and re-evaluate the past. We have the benefit of far more information and events to judge.

They messed up big. But it wasn't malice. They were naive and far too cautious. They assumed they could re-unify the country.

Obviously those goals are now dead.

It's one thing for the campaign to talk about it. It's another thing for all the officers of the executive branch to agree.

Biden and his staff made some grave errors.

It's also easy to forget, but even Republicans in early January 2021 considered Trump done.

Everyone was foolish to think that.

So many on the left think the issue is that people aren't progressive enough.

They fail to understand how deeply unpopular they are in many areas of the country.

The Democrats represent a big tent party right now. They're not all going to be progressive darlings. Most will be moderate.

I hope he does amazing things.

I also think people, especially college educated ones, think he represents a revolutionary awakening in the US. That is naive.

The country is, by and large, fairly moderate about most things. He works well in his locale, but that doesn't apply to the nation.

Well the Democrats don't have an antisemitism problem.

However, there are a lot of lefties who do have that problem. And lefties and Democrats are often conflated.

The worst example of the left is held up as the norm and lambasted.

Meanwhile, the worst of the right is dismissed and ignored.

I think they were living like the old rules still applied.

Minimize the politicization, don't interfere with the DOJ, and assume the process will play out fairly.

They were so overly cautious that it backfired tremendously.

Don't confuse malice here with negligence. They were far too trusting.

Because they're all still wishing for things to "go back to normal." They really don't want the reality to be the way it is.

It's so fundamentally difficult for them to realize the game has changed.

Those Republicans who couldn't play by the new rules were replaced. Democrats haven't.
