A bronze statue of the late Cubs announcer Harry Caray that stands by the entrance to the bleachers at Wrigley Field. Harry is seen wearing a windbreaker and his signature large and thick-rimmed glasses. Heās gesticulating with both arms, one holding a microphone as he leads the crowd singing in the 7th inning stretch. The base of the statue is a sculptural rendition of the stands of Wrigley Field and rising up from it, in what can easily be interpreted as bronze hellfire, are faces of damned and tormented Cubs fans. I know it sounds like Iām being facetious but that is sincerely what it looks like.
For those previously unacquainted hereās the sculpture known to me as āHarry Caray and the Harrowing of Hellā
Renewal of Atlanta's TADs:
I'm 90% sure they'll get renewed regardless of any pushback b/c Dickens wants it & he has a gift for getting his way.
Nonetheless, it's a mistake. Wanna fund affordable housing? Design a tool specifically for it; one that can't be co-opted for questionable projects.
Oh noooo
WATCHES IN SPACE š§µ
Ever notice how all of the astronauts are wearing a billion watches in every picture? Christina Koch is wearing three in this picture

Map shows the tiny amount of land zoned for growth in Atlanta's zoning rewrite
Local architect & builder Eric Kronberg is sharing smart criticisms of Atlanta's concerning new zoning rewrite.
Most residential areas are maintaining their suburban-style restrictions (large lot sizes, no new density). That's not good.

When $10 gas is on the table, every city should be building streets like NYC.
Or he could push republicans in congress to pass the (Warnock-cosponsored) bill that would pay the TSA agents that are actually trained for this. Not a great headline. www.govtrack.us/congress/bil...
A statue of Henrik Ibsen in a green in central Bergen, Norway, under a stormy sky. He appears to have googly eyes, looks very angry, his sideburns form a kind of puffball neckline, and thereās a seagull on his head.
I totally get why some people want to knock all statues down, but have they considered Bergenās absolutely demented statue of Henrik Ibsen
Court transcript in which a US Supervising attorney introduces himself, the judge asks if he has made an appearance, the attorney says "I did not." The Judge says "Are you here for moral support? Because you're not going to speak." Attorney says "I would ask --" and the judge cuts him off and says "No"

Yes! I was in Manhattan last spring, post congestion pricing, and the noise was so human scale. The streets felt vibrant and oddly peaceful. So much better
IF ONLY ATLANTA HAD THE MONEY TO BUILD A SIMILAR PROJECT WITH TRAMS ON GRASS, SEPARATED FROM CARS š
If AI is so amazing and is going to create so much value, why do they need +$2.5 billion in tax incentives to build data centers? This is just for GA, over $2.5 billion.
A blessƩd pigeon with a golden halo and golden details over its body. Painted over purple in acrylic
Today's pigeon is based on a photo by @banditelli.org, and also a GOLDEN GOD
Also: I'm thrilled to share that there will be a paperback launch event in Atlanta with the incredible @jduffyrice.bsky.social and Charis Books. More on that soon.
Go to bed; tired is stupid.
I hear this, and I see the connection with any local work that helps to connect people, that pushes our city to be better, to build for everyone, not just the rich.
Your work, which helps people imagine a more safe, vibrant city where people can move freely, helps build democracy here. Thank you.
Reupping my "Abolish ICE" Congress tracker. Right now, only one Minnesota Member of Congress (@repilhan.bsky.social) and one white Member of Congress (@repmcgovern.bsky.social) have publicly called for abolishing ICE:

"Sentator ___,
Vote no on any appropriations bill that funds ICE. ICE murdered another person this morning in Minneapolis. The agency is corrupt and lawless to its core and cannot be redeemed. It must not receive any more funding, and must ultimately be completed eliminated as a government agency."

Mayor Dickens Unveils Transformative Plan for Equitable Access to Transit⦠Finally connecting Downtown to the Beltline via the Streetcar East Extension via the Streetcar East Extension at grade at Irwin St NE in Phase I of streetcar/light rail construction.
courtneyenglish4atl ⢠There was no secret backdoor meeting. The Mayor has made his position clear. Hell, the AJC has covered it. We support rail, just believe Southside should go first because thats where the need is. And as far as the committee you're referencing, itās mandated by the More MARTA program and has existed for for almost a decade.
March 2025 *official announcement*: PHASE ONE is the Streetcar East Extension to the Beltline
Jan. 2026: The Southside should go first, stop all work on the Streetcar East Extension
