Nice, all new deliveries from this month on come with the Air Canada function!
(Taxiway Landing Monitor).
And the even more important Altimeter Setting Monitor.
Even in an old platform like the A320, there is still progress.

Advocate for MFF, after all that’s easy on Airbusses and allows more variety.
Today I had an early flight to Paris Orly. Nearly no clouds along the way, but lots of dust/sand from the Sahara desert, especially in Spain and Portugal. My colleague is based in Charles de Gaulle, so he took the opportunity to land in Orly.
Green French countryside.
View back to Orly.
Today it’s off to Madeira again, this time fairly late in the day and a landing in the dark.
It’s nice to have the sun out after weeks of storms and rain.
Leaving the mainline cost, and OPO.
Madeira ahead, as usual fairly cloudy.
This winter we were on full EBT for the first time, before was limited EBT/ATQP. Only difference was that the license was signed on day 3 instead of day 1.
Thy swapped to 3 days in winter and 1 day in summer a few years ago. The reason is that we fly a lot less in winter.
But it leads to the problem that simulator time in winter is scarce and most of them are mostly empty in summer.
I did 4 (plus three day in the SIM) and deadheaded on 3.
And that is on a narrowbody.
88? That’s funny and random. Never had that.
More common seems to be not calling 500 (stability gate for us) or something like 10, 5, 2
Starting out shortly after 6:00 in the morning over the Atlantic Ocean it can be pitch black outside. No lights below, only dim stars above.
But at least a bit of sun showed up for my visual approach into Madeira.
Day 2/5 of working over Christmas.
European: NADP2 as standard, if NADP1 is required it is its own category in the company NOTAMs. So just take a peek there and you know.
Es gibt noch Sparbücher?
Weird cowling on this Air Canada A330 in Geneva.
Early flight to Geneva, out of a wet and cold Porto. Thankfully our slot disappeared as soon as we called ready so we could leave a few minutes early.
Waiting for my fuel slip for the fuel check.
Arriving into Geneva we got a nice demonstration that clouds are just fluids.
The only time where I thought it would be handy is flying the visual / circling into LPMA. With the RNP (AR) not even there.
Well, flying into LOWI I see the usefulness as well.
I always wonder about that. Neither Switzerland nor Norway are in the customs unit, but completely (Norway) or mostly (Switzerland) in the single market.
I like my pig raw, with some onion pieces on top please. On a good German bread roll.
Yep, still discovering changes from the new set of OM A and B we got a few weeks ago. And when I come back from my short vacation there’s this new fangled electronic tech log to deal with…
Another flight to Paris Orly an back. International ops as an Italian and german pilot operating an Austrian registered aircraft in France with a Portuguese cabin crew got a push back from a guy with Indian accent.
Sunrise.
Departure Info.
Waiting to enter the wet apron.
A morning flight to Paris Orly. Sadly we had to swap aircraft and the one we should take over was late as it did a go around. Very much low vis fog in Paris this morning.
Cold and early in Porto
Our aircraft is finally there.
Wood fire smog in northern Portugal.
I believe it is Caniçal.
Last day of the block and it was busier than expected, got activated out of two home standby duties. To Madeira again. And now back home to Porto.
Just before sunrise.
Porto Santo cut in half by the airport.
Madeira, with the Airport.
Who is that? Automatically connects ADSC
5:00 Check in for a very early flight to Geneva and back to Porto. Despite the thunderstorms in Porto we managed to be 20 minutes early.
Sunrise.
Thunderstorms.
Unicorn, A318ACJ, only a handful exists.
Canadian military invading Portugal.
Same aircraft as yesterday, an surprisingly the same FO as well. But today we have to work more. We already flew from Porto to Nantes and back, and now it’s off to the 3-country airport in France.
Loire Estuary approaching Nantes.
Leaving Nantes on the way to Porto.
Just a late flight to Paris Orly and back today. We fly an aircraft which carries a big „Austria“ decal on the fuselage, and we are Austrias biggest airline. But we have no aircraft and no crew based in that country. The wonders of the EU.
„Austria“
Typical Porto rain.
