A man in academia: He's amazing! He doesn't disrespect me, allows me to suggest my own ideas & even got me an unpaid internship.
A woman in ac: She advocated so I'd get pay for internship, supported my mental health & gave me a kidney. But her 'hello' was cold. She might be a bitch, I don't know.

There is absolutely no reason to deport a longtime journalist who is authorized to work in the United States.
The Dekalb County Sheriff's Office should not have released Mario Guevara to ICE.

""It's really hard to fathom that the guy making my pizza for 25 years is a gangster and a terrorist, and the person who shows up in an unmarked car wearing a mask and body armor comes to take him away is somehow the good guy," said Simon..."

Taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the lawsuits when cops do illegal stuff like this. It’s unconscionable.
Well now we know why Uber + Waymo is a sponsor. They paid $25K to be sponsors. This is why we need to get corporate money out of the non-profit industrial complex. At least our concerns are being heard by the local media.

Who the fuck at Streets Alive thought this was a good idea?
More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.
Take care of yourself includes bring water. Wear sunscreen. BRING MEDS!
Do you need an EpiPen? A rescue inhaler? Insulin?
Bring it to the protest! Bonus points if you can bring the box with the prescription on it.
But who will stand up for the bacon, cheese, and egg?
Why spend $500k on humble improvements that benefit a broad community when you could instead blow $10M on a crazy ass segregated-access bridge?

An editorial cartoon of MLK standing in front of chaos and wreckage with the words, "I plan to lead another non-violent march tomorrow"
Posting this 1967 Birmingham News editorial cartoon for all the people who don't realize that this is how MLK was viewed by a big chunk of white America.
Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

LA is America
A cartoon showing various activity at an airport, including an extorted luxury jet, an exploding X rocket, a ketamine enthusiast wheeling a barrow of money to his plane, many ICE officers -- some taking people to an El Salvador plane, another with a zip-tied child being blocked by a federal judge -- scientists boarding a plane to Europe, a medical self-educator covered with pox, and more. All the people are represented by various animals. The story is made in the style of a Richard Starry children's book. Alt text borrowed from Mastodon..

INBOX: In an op-ed, leaders of Atlanta Botanical Garden, Park Pride, and Trust for Public Land embraced Mayor Dickens' "group project" to kill the voter-approved Streetcar East Extension and move things Southside. They are now calling for building a second Eastside BeltLine along the streetcar ROW.
Bill Torpy wrote something similar a few weeks ago, and I'm not buying it. Their "solution" doesn't align well with the problem they suggest.
IF their concerns are truly about peds vs micromobility, consider first regulating the scooters plaguing the beltline. These are allowed to be dumped everywhere, often right in the middle of the path. People riding them often have limited experience & possibly inebriated at the most congested times.
This is such stupid bullshit. The Atlanta Botanical Garden has especially shown their true colors by giving us a massive Public Storage right on the beltline and now this.
Lots of people are in crisis. Many of us have lost our jobs. Others been reduced to half time. The rest fear what’s coming. Education evaluation positions have been entirely eliminated at some firms. The world for thousands is radically different than it was even 3 months ago. So, yeah, this tracks.
Very excited to see that Rohit Malhotra is running for Atlanta City Council president –– it's genuinely important that he defeats his opponent, who has repeatedly voted for Cop City, to keep the jail open, and to enhance criminal penalties.
