โชTrumpโs gutting of pro-EV regulations was backed by several large automakers. More specifically, General Motors' $20-million 2025 lobbying blitz (more than almost any other U.S. company) helped overturn federal & state-level rules on vehicle emissions & fuel efficiency.

Plug-in solar panels can lower energy bills almost instantly. They plug into a standard outlet & can save households hundreds of $$ a year. Yet outdated state rules make them hard to use in most of the US.
โBusiness knows what forceful activism and lobbying is; they know how to do it on other stuff. They can do it on climate. We need some aggressive risk-taking." โ Auden Schendler, former head of Aspen Skiing Company's sustainability program for 26 years + current ClimateVoice Advisory Board member

Despite the headwinds, many state-level climate policies advanced in 2025, with many states releasing updated climate plans, setting new targets, improving transmission planning, and streamlining clean energy projects and permits.
The latest piece from our very own Deborah McNamara digs into how companies can use their influence to advocate for state level climate policies.

She urges companies to โremember their commitments to shareholders, employees, customers and American communitiesโ, and to โuse their influence to advance public policies that put communities, employees, stakeholders and the environment first.โ
Too many of the worldโs most influential companies risk being complicit with the rising authoritarianism in the U.S. in 2026. They are โchoosing silence and appearing to double down in private sector collusion and complicity."
