This is the kind of structural intervention needed to effect real change. The fact that it’s been spun thus is a data point supporting my theory that our sector just wants to be rewarded for doing the bare minimum, whilst nothing *really* changes (and in fact privilege is ever more concentrated)

I have never been happier to live in Wales (Palantir not used by Welsh NHS, Public Health Wales)
So Palantir are like Fascist fascists i see yeah maybe we shouldn’t integrate the nazi computer into the NHS
The Palentir statement on its desired “Technological Republic” is one of the scariest things I have seen in a while. It is a call for a world dominated by an authoritarian U.S., generated by AI (both the statement and the world), run by tech-surveillance companies. Technofascism pure!
There is so much market manipulation going on in this administration.
Judges 4:21 always went down very well in the front rows of my choir stalls as a boy
I don’t believe you all have some obscure favorite Bible verse
Great story. A v good friend was DV'd for the FCO years ago. One question was: "does your wife have expensive tastes?". Answer: "Yes, but she works in banking and earns far more than I do". He passed.
Congrats on “opening” a strait that was open six weeks ago, and all it cost was at least 13 dead service members, thousands of dead Iranian civilians, tens of billions in taxpayer dollars, our loss in global standing, and the Iranian regime’s increase in power. Phenomenal work.

I am absolutely not an expert on classical literature, but weren’t the Sirens essentially this, telling a man exactly what he wanted to hear to lure him to his death?
As a woman, I offer my sympathies to the Pope who is now being told hourly by very many random men what he actually means
I know from experience that leaving Substack has a cost. No other platform is as *easy* to get up and running, any time you change platforms, you're going to get significant churn. But, my friends who are on Substack--I don't think it will get easier to leave, might as well do it now.
Pope Leo is no angel.
I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses

Paul Robeson, whose birthday was yesterday, had one of the most remarkable lives ever. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ro...
Reinstating National Service would be a small price to pay for not having to think about him anymore.

Anyone else getting Suez vibes from this?
The more I read about the provisions of the ceasefire, the more this seems like the greatest strategic defeat in American history.
Grudging admiration for her commitment to the bit.
My PhD is on 18th-century theatre but I can nevertheless hazard a guess at this one….
